Deadly crash in Genesee County

Spiderman, I know you're just kidding. Come drive on any of the roads I take every morning and see, no where near Genessee Co. We went through there yesterday when the road was still blocked off, around noon, said they were still cleaning up. Anyone knows who's been out there it's a flat open fairly straight stretch, perfect for edging up over the speed limit, but we don't know that yet. There had also been about two inches of snow on the cars from earlier in the morning.  (Saturday Dec 5 | post #5)

Monroe County Health Officials confirm two more swine flu deaths

The REAL news is that two adults died of swine flu 2-3 weeks ago, before the clinics for special-needs people, and the test results just came back, and one person apparently had a previous contributing condition. How much more do most of us really need to know? Condolences for the families and friends, they know who they are.  (Wednesday Dec 2 | post #5)

More skepticism, confusion about new mammogram guidelines

This is just the first step in the government taking over our health care and saving money. Now they won't have to pay out for mammograms and sonograms for an extra ten years! Because if this health care teams says it's not necessary, insurance will darn sure not pay for it. And just how many real cases of breast cancer are diagnosed long before age 50!!?? This is PURELY POLITICAL, PEOPLE!  (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #3)

Body found outside Blockbuster in Batavia

I believe that death in any form is so hard to understand that joking is a coping mechanism to get past something we can't grasp. You should hear the kind of jokes that go around any ambulance base or EMT class sometimes--truly sick unless you can understand it's a way to cope with something like that. Of course as human beings we have caring feelings for anyone so depressed they take their own life, and thinking about this young man, or any person's, last few minutes on earth brings us all to deep regret for him. The joking may not be harmless, in truth, but there is a purpose. Just sayin....  (Nov 8, 2009 | post #22)

Authorities had concerns about suspect

I suppose one man could do that much shooting if he used a machine gun. That really knocks a lot of people down fast in the movies. They don't say yet what kind of fire-power he used. As much as we say that those who bring religion into this are biased and bigoted, doesn't it always come out in days that follow that these scum-bags WERE motivated by religious teachings of "death to the infidels" and JIHAD *(not sure of the spelling on that)? We average people on the street usually end up seeing this correctly. They've already found evidence of this on his computer from six months ago. This is not something WE dreamed up. How many more are there?  (Nov 7, 2009 | post #23)

Authorities had concerns about suspect

Ethnic origin and religious faith are two different things. Only one involves a choice. And only one involves a belief system that teaches them that all Americans are bad, that infidels must be converted or killed, and that express ticket to heaven. But we Americans have always been both stupid and uninformed, believing whatever the politicians feed us. Those of us who DO have half a brain are shouted down by the 'true' patriots among us. It's always been that way, and always will be. Believing that anyone named Hussien is a terrorist is as stupid as believing every Japanese-American needs to go to an interrment camp in California.(WWII) I thought it was strange that on an Army base it took so long to bring this guy down that he got off over 40 shots that hit people, and yet he still lives. The average gunman on the street wouldn't have!!!  (Nov 6, 2009 | post #18)

Rapist with 10 bodies at his Ohio home denied bond

This guy won't get "life". I can't imagine anyone so sick and twisted, except maybe the judicial system that didn't allow house inspections on this guy. His RIGHTS? What about those women's rights, and how many might have been avoided if they could have inspected the house along the way?And ESPECIALLY once the odor was noticed. My lord, this will be quite a movie.  (Nov 4, 2009 | post #14)

Wal-Mart starts selling caskets, urns online

Before she died, my mother's very favorite activity was shopping at K-Mart. She'd spend all day and eat lunch. When she passed, she was cremated and I thought how great if her ashes could have been scattered around a K-Mart. She would have LOVED to Lay-A-Way a casket on sale!!  (Oct 29, 2009 | post #37)

Accident closes portion of Buffalo Road

He didn't face any morning sun THIS morning, fer sure, but I hear it was pretty foggy around Chili Center, in that direction. People just DO NOT slow down in bad weather. Yesterday how many cars were in that pile-up on 490 behind the Gates-Chili school? They WILL NOT slow down!  (Oct 29, 2009 | post #8)

Car chase in Greece concludes in rollover accident in Rochester

Actually, in the wee hours of Sunday morning, Livingston Co. began chasing a Ford Mustang around Portageville, and called off the chase when patrol lost him. I was surprised.  (Oct 18, 2009 | post #27)

Making one giant thud for mankind

Has this whole world gone absolutely crazy??? I WOULD say this country, but it's the whole world, after all. Taking pot-shots at the moon, like NASA can't think of anything else to do but send old, empty rockets up to crash into the moon. If there ARE any aliens out there watching, they will see that we deserve to be invaded and taken over by some new technology that obviously DOES work in the future. NASA cut back on so many other programs for the lack of funding, and we all know where THAT money has gone, these guys have way too much time on their hands. It's absurd and foolish in today's economy. Just my opinion. . .  (Oct 10, 2009 | post #18)

NY's non-sticking DMV stickers prompt complaints

Both of my stickers fell off within a month so I went ahead and taped them on, but, yes, I do remember last year when it took razor blades to get them off and replace them. Anyone find it too coincidental that they began to fall off as soon as we got our new governor? Cutting corners in the glue department? or a scam to get people to put in for new ones, which you can also do? Hmmmmmmm. . .  (Oct 7, 2009 | post #11)

Number of people using H.E.A.P. increasing; are you eligible fo...

Thank you, I TEAM ME. HEAP has been in place for those who need it over 20 years now. Some people need it some years, some don't other years. Try your husband gets taken out of work on medical and then you get laid off. Could happen, who knows? And then it takes 6-8 weeks for disability to kick in, two or three for unemployment while you try to figure out how to buy groceries or pay that dang rge bill. Don't be so quick to judge. There but for fortune go the rest of us.  (Oct 6, 2009 | post #9)
