**NEW SMITH POINT VILLAGE EXPLORATORY COMMITTEE**

Great job SPVEC!!! In today's Newsday, an article stated that charity donations are down across Long Island. It's great to see that many families will receive warm winter clothing and new toys for the holidays thanks to the generous support of our community and the tireless effort of the SPVEC in this crippling economy that is burdening us all. Many families who donated and volunteered in the past are now becoming recipients of such donated necessities. But this community showed it's care and compassion for those unfortunate and really helped out in a way that would seem small to most, but big in those that are in need of items that we most take for granted. Thanks again SPVEC and ALL of the generous support of this community. Happy Holidays to all!!  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #410)

Browning: 'Majority of legislators' support Legacy Village

A village is our best hope. No one is getting paid here to help push for an incorporated village. Yes not all who receive assistance from the county or state, or those who simply rent are derelicts like you mentioned. That most can agree on. But to follow your words and insist the only way to enjoy a better quality of life is to move away from our waterfront community, would be to give up on ourselves and what this area can really become. I want to stay. Regardless of what you or others think is a solution, I know we can band together and vote for a better quality of living. It's just going to take quite a bit of effort to motivate the community here to do things as a whole rather than looking out for themselves individually.  (Saturday Dec 19 | post #14)

I believe that big yellow 2 story house(sober house) just south of the LIRR on WFP is up for sale. If it is, it's a start. We all know of the drinking and drugs that are frequent there in the short 2 year history of this new house.  (Friday Dec 11 | post #6)

At work so I missed the parade, but saw a lot of pics taken by a friend and was impressed by the crowds and creative floats. If I did attend I would bet you I would stop off at that bagel store at the Kohl's shopping center. Sorry I don't know their name, but they have great breakfast specials and good coffee. But it is hard during the week when they are working on the road to pull into the parking lots of these businesses. So a week off of construction helps a bit.  (Sunday Dec 6 | post #11)

Please tell us the names of the town officials that don't support us. And what meetings have you gone to where they laughed at the thought of a village for South Shirley. Are they laughing at Mastic Beach? I don't think so. The town hasn't done much for this community and your comments show you don't care what happens here regardless if we get a village. Your quote of 100% failure has no credibility. As also the statement of the town will "kill it" if a village comes up for a vote. GO VILLAGE!  (Sunday Nov 29 | post #2)
