I see you cannot comprehend logic. From the CNN story: "At a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee Wednesday, panel Chairman John Warner, R-Virginia, called the findings "significant. " http://www.cnn.com /2004/WORLD/meast/ 10/06/iraq.wmd.rep ort/ "While the ISG has not found stockpiles of WMD, the ISG and other coalition elements have developed a body of fact that shows that Saddam Hussein had, first, the strategic intention to continue to pursue WMD capabilities; two, created ambiguity about his WMD capabilities that he used to extract concessions in the international world of disclosure and discussion and negotiation. "He used it as a bargaining tactic and as a strategic deterrent against his neighbors and others." We have found about 500 WMD in Iraq. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #1586)
I have claimed he will be equivalent to Truman. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #50)
Actually, back of envelope says the Annenberg Challenge worked out to about $350, not 75. But, it was not allocated on a per pupil basis. It was a 2 for 1 grant, so the total was about $150 million. Ayers is also quoted as"I am a radical, Leftist, small 'c' communist ..." I looked at the Joyce website, but declined to do the arithmetic for the 6 areas in which they offer funding. Still, a quick eyeball disputes your 2%, at least in 2007. Obama was not of the opinion that the second amendment was an individual right during the primaries. I am uncomfortable believing he has converted based on the SCOTUS 5-4 ruling. There is no valid comparison between Black Liberation Theology and Assembly of God. The thrust of Black Liberation theology is change in the government, while Assembly of God has little to say about government. I hardly see a comparison of 20 years in the pews vs the short time Palin was in the charismatic church. There is not equivalence here. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #126)
No, Congress got us here with their protection of Fannie and Freddie. Bush tried to place controls on them. In any case, I will vote against any incumbent. We need to get rid of them all and start over. If Barney Frank and Chris Dodd had an ounce of integrity, they would resign. But integrity and Congress is an oxymoron. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #115)
Tax bills can not be filibustered. That is why we got a tie vote. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #113)
Obama claims he was 8. Now, how old was Obama when he worked with Ayers on the Annenberg challeng. How old was Obama when Ayers held the kickoff for Obama's campaign at his house? Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #112)
That is not hypocritical. It is payment for services rendered to the country. Big difference. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #1579)
The problem with Ayers is that he is unrepentant for the bombings and wishes he had done more. At the same time, he is attempting to indoctrinate children through his approaches to education. You may remember that Obama had a blurb on Ayers book. He is not some guy from the neighborhood, or just someone whose kids Obama's kids went to school with. The kids ages don correlate between the two families. Rick Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #1577)
Way to avoid the question. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #47)
Demos, why would the majority ever want a filibuster? If they are the majority, they can pass what they want as long as they can end debate. The filibuster is always a tool of the minority. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #93)
Not necessarily. The question is how did we get here and how do we get out. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #91)
The press has been so in the tank for Obama, all through the primary and now the general, that they really refuse to look into Obama's background. We had the AP puff piece, but there should be real questions about the goals and implementation of the Annenberg Challenge and what did they get for their $150 million. For some reason, Obama has gotten a pass on that. Then, how does Obama feel about Black Liberation Philosophy. If he doesn't agree, why did he sit there for 20 years without a murmur. What did he do as a director of the Joyce Foundation and how does he reconcile his position that the second amendment is an individual right as opposed to the Joyce Foundation, which spent an extraordinary amount of money trying to show the second amendment is a group right. Your point about high road/low road is not very good. Obama has staked his whole strategy on people not knowing his past. If the press had not been so in love with Obama, McCain wouldn't have to do the job they should already have done. Rick Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #90)
You are still a bit off. The Senate requires 60 votes to invoke cloture. That is what makes breaking a filibuster so hard and why the Senate rarely even tries anymore. Those who want to invoke cloture need to have their votes on the floor (so the opposition cannot call for an adjournment due to lack of quorum) while those who want to continue the debate need only have the speaker on the floor. Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #85)
Even a casual observer will notice that the Senate operates on Robert's Rules except for a few modifications. I know of no formal organization that does not use Robert's Rules. Do you? Rick Rick (Tuesday Oct 7 | post #39)
