Illinois income tax rate may rise by 50%
The second sentence from Mr Quinn was "we will have to raise taxes". He said it before he even became governor. The CPS wants to raise property taxes,,,why penalize homeowners and not everyone? Why can't the elected officials take A CUT IN PAY...instead. (Mar 13, 2009 | post #67)
Redesign of Pepsi logo hard to swallow
These comments are hilarious....just because the logo changes will not affect my purchasing it or not. I don't like Coke because it is much too sweet so my preference is Pepsi. The reforming of the wording is called streamlining...making it easier to read. Stop comparing the logo to anything else and accept it as new, Unless you write the corporate HQ and complain, you won;t get the correct reasoning behind the switch. (Mar 3, 2009 | post #75)
Sears profit drops on charges but beats estimates
I think Sears needs to look at the way it hires people...we went into a Sears in November on a weeknight and there were 4 sales people in electronics and 4 people in appliances. Between these two departments there were maybe three browsing customers. I think that's a bit of salesman overkill. Their selection of clothing is horrible and their prices aren't all that good either. I will not buy any more appliances at Sears so what's left? Tools...it's not like a need a hammer or screwdriver every week. (Feb 26, 2009 | post #5)

Chicago area is in for a Valentine's Day snow
really? 2-4 inches? what radar are you looking at...the snow is mostly to the SOUTH of the city. What developing system? This system that is going to "hit" us is already in Nebraska and Iowa. How could it be "developing " ? This forecast is the same since yesterday...no wonder I don't Listen to WGN for the weather, (Feb 13, 2009 | post #1)
Mom maintains friendships with daughter's old beaus
LW2...all you have to do is say that you aren't very hungry and be done with that. LW3...Abby sure dropped the ball on this one...her answer was no answer. Continue to greet everyone with a HI! even the women. They will know you are being courteous, you're jogging not ogling. (Feb 5, 2009 | post #13)
I would think to be a CEO of the CPS, a degree in education would be necessary. You would be better qualified to have management skills instead. Ron Huberman may just excel as head of the CPS. Why not give him a chance? (Feb 4, 2009 | post #16)
because Fields is gone forever! It's not coming back....nada, never. The jobs are being cut because of the economy, not because it's Macy's, any other store wouldn't garner a response at all. (Feb 4, 2009 | post #1)
I hate to throw water on the groundhog but Spring will come in March just like it has since the beginning of calendars. The only reason he saw his shadow is because either the sun was brightly shining or someone focused a bright light to cause a shadow. (Feb 4, 2009 | post #1)

Yep...it's true, unless you have a specialty, it's hard to find a teaching position in the CPS. (Feb 4, 2009 | post #9)
Expectations high for new state leader
Raising taxes was one of the first things Quinn said he was going to do to get Illinois out of the hole. Now we get to see how the representatives and senators really work and nobody can blame the former governor. (Jan 30, 2009 | post #14)

4 hour and 21 hour commutes are not quite the same! Who do you think pays for the Obama girls to go to their private school? In the long run..it really doesn't matter. (Jan 28, 2009 | post #61)

There is always a politicians name on signs. Cook County finally took the Stroger name off and used Cook County Commissioners. So, whoever is the next governor, will have his/her name plastered all over. (Jan 28, 2009 | post #60)

I drive past the governor's house about four times a week. It's amusing to see which TV station got the space in front of the house first. Then there are the six or seven black Lincolns that sit there and three or four SUV's...I pray that there aren't any emergency's in that area...the fire trucks couldn't pass through that one block area safely.
