replace brake light 07 sprinter

Once the screws are out you pull the complete assembly out sideways, they have 3 small posts that snap into place to keep it all in place... Terry  (Apr 16, 2010 | post #4)

weak keyless entry

Good luck, this has to be the weakest link with these vans. The remotes are pathetic to say the least and the manual even states that they are only good to a max of 30 feet, how retarded is that????? I am going to have a command start/alarm system put in mine and then will be using the remotes that come with it. You would think that Mercedes would have supplied a remote keyless device that would be as good if not better than what is currently offered on the market. Terry  (Jan 29, 2010 | post #2)

installing a recirculating heater on an '08 v6 3.0 sprinter

so we hit -44 celcius on sunday morning and even with my van plugged in (oil pan heater) there was no way my van would start. So I had it towed into the local ford dealership (they owed me a few favours) so that I could park it in a corner and let it thaw out. Once it was warm enough to start again I asked if they could install a recirculating heater for me, and they said sure. I went next door and bought one and dropped it off. Today I went over to pick it up and they had not installed it. They said that they were unsure about the best way to do it and had called the nearest Dodge dealer who is 60 miles away to find out from their sprinter guy what he thought. He never returned the call so now I am looking for some info on the best place to install it so that it won't interfere with any thing else. I need to get this done before saturday as I am going away for the Christmas break and don't want my son to have problems getting it started. Thanks Terry  (Dec 15, 2009 | post #1)

EGR Bypass

I was talking to a friend who works at a ford dealership and he was saying that the ford diesels also have had a major EGR issue and that many owners are opting for installing a EGR bypass kit. This not only has removed the EGR issue but also increased their fuel efficiency. Has anyone considered this option for the Sprinter's?  (Dec 14, 2009 | post #1)

Sprinter Recall

I had the recall done in Sept 09 when I was on a trip and I experienced the loss of power scenerio. After the recall things did seem a bit better but in the last week since it has become cold (-20 to -30 Celcius) the van has been doing it fairly often each day My only resolve is that sometimes if I stop and shut the engine off and wait for a few minutes it will be okay for a bit when I restart it. Jon, do you think I should be on the dealer's case to get this resolved as a warranty item?? I am currently at just under 80km for total milage on the vehicle. Terry  (Dec 8, 2009 | post #17)

Newbie Sprinter Warranty Questions

I recently asked the dealer about adding an extended warranty to my 08 Sprinter 2500 with 74k on it. I pretty well had a massive heart attach due to the price of $6800.00 to extend coverages to 160k. Being that I picked the van up at the end of June 09, 51435km's on it and here we are Dec 8th, 09 and I am just under 80k I cannot justify the high price that would only extend my coverages for another 80k. If anyone out there has better prices please let me know.... terry at thepatons dot ca  (Dec 8, 2009 | post #2)

08 V6 3.0 fuel filter

Hi, I did search for this but did not find quite what I am looking for. That is: On my '08 2500 Sprinter with a 3.0 V6 diesel, where is the fuel filter located and is there any quirks to getting it out and the new one back in?? I know that I need to follow the priming procedure that is in the manual for if and when you may run out of fuel, but short of that I am still in need of info. Thanks to all who contribute to such a great forum Terry - Vanderhoof,BC  (Nov 15, 2009 | post #1)

I suspect a flasher unit as I doubt they would light up if the fuse was blown... Terry  (Nov 15, 2009 | post #2)

Wrong engine oil

Quoted "and the quick change lube places are staffed with people who don't have the skills to work as full mechanics." Sure have to agree with you there, I found myself slightly over the limit I had set for oil changes and in the larger community last week where I decided to have it done. After phoning many places I came up with no one available so I did call the quick lube place that we used to take our family van to with out any problems. The owner I spoke with clearly was on the same page as me on what kind of oil and said he would only do it if he could use the Mobil ESP spec'd oil. So I said lets get it done. They were pretty good when I was there, took the time to show me the 2 cases of oil that was the correct type. Only thing I noticed was no one was clear on how much to put in. I showed him the past service paperwork that said 13 liters were used, but as I was driving home (about 75km from the oil place) my oil light came on and the display indicated "HI". I pulled off the highway and shut it down, waited for a few minutes and checked the dipstick and sure enough it was over the mark. I called the guy back and what a friggin' attitude! His response was "around here, we work on the principle that it ain't full until the dipstick says it's full." I suggested that perhaps they did not wait long enough before checking the level and he said he stood by his statement. Then he told me that the light is nothing to go by, just keep driving it and eventually being diesel it would use up the extra. I hung up, couldn't think of anything intelligent to say to this idiot. So wrench and a little container along with my son went under the frontend and we took about a pop can full out. Waited a bit and checked the level and all was good. I then took a look at the paperwork and sure enough they put on it that they put in 13.70 liters in. Needless to say I personally would not recommend them to anyone. tail lights burning out

I have had my '08 2500 since the end of june 09 and have had to replace several bulbs some the same as previously changed because they are burning out. I am wondering if this is just with my van or are others experiencing similar issues. Thanks Terry  (Oct 28, 2009 | post #1)
