You obviously think of yourself as a critical thinker, however your comments don't bear that out. You believe that under 50% of high school graduates in rural areas go on to college. Statistics are either correct or they're not. Don't cite them if you don't know. You vaguely related that to religious people, as if rural people equal religious people. That's not true. 90% of other religious people you encounter is not quantifiable either. You don't know who is religious and who isn't. I am not trying to attack you, although it may sound that way. Stop making us all look bad. The date for Christmas was chosen by the early church to coincide with the Winter Solstice festivals that were already being held. I sent my kids to a combination of private and public school. That is my background as well. They were well grounded in their beliefs and were able to take advantage of the wealth of programs and learn how to live with the community in the public school. Their private school had diversity, it wasn't homogeneous. It was a sacrifice and a struggle at times, but well worth it. Again, it is dangerous to do away with the public school system. It's not a good idea to disband the public schools. If they didn't exist, community standards would prevail even more than today, and anyone who thought differently than that community would be fair game for ostracism, persecution and whatnot.
