American, Oneworld Committed to Keeping Japan Air in Alliance, ...
Pretty plz with sushi on top don't go. If you go to Skyteam we will boned in Asia since Cathay Pacific has great service, but a much smaller route system. (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #2)
United Pilot Arrested at Airport, Charged With Being Drunk
The flight was only booked to 124. Talk about excess capacity. I'd rather have a drunk pilot all paranoid and thinking extra hoping not to get busted than pilots on a laptop too engrossed to fly. (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #1)
Southwest to offer Nashville-St. Louis flights
These short flights are what boosts the RPM figures. Get up, get down, add, subtract pax do it again. Those silly major carriers going transcon nonstop. That's what we need is more short flights. I like flights that with time to get to the airport etc are longer than if you just got in the car and drove. (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #2)
Midwest Airlines' Parent Company To Add 800 Jobs in Milwaukee
Let me guess, if you are ex-YX you aren't getting recalled. You can however get your same job back with Reoublic holdings. The pay will be slightly less. Just a theory mind you, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was right (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #1)
Rule would boost unions at airlines, railroads
When Reagan fired the controllers, and planes didn't collide daily, the teeth were pulled from the unions. There are unions which still have contracts that keep employers from boning employees on a whim. However any union that stikes especially in this economy has gotten thier members unemployed. Your strike now you are replaced by scabs and never heard from again. (Wednesday Nov 4 | post #12)
BA staff expected to strike at Christmas
Try that in America. 6 weeks notice. If that were here, BA would call upon layed off cabin crew from anywhere, hire off the street and train folks. Dec 20th lock out the union, bring in the scabs, and the uunion would be out pending a court hearing. If the judge would be a Bush appointee, the union people would be boned. See NWA v AMFA (Wednesday Nov 4 | post #1)
Lawmakers Seek Ban On Laptops In Cockpits
Unfortunatly unless you are Fedex, UPS etc, you need pax, no matter how dumb (Tuesday Nov 3 | post #2)
Rule would boost unions at airlines, railroads
If everything was run like the railway labor act and indifference was considered no, we would have nothing in this country. Most folks for whatever reason don't vote. Imagine the propostion to help schools failing because even though 99% of the people said yes, only 40% of those who could voted. The railway labor act restricts work actions. Just because you have a union doesn't mean you will have rampant job actions. By the time the railway labor act allows you to strike, the companies have time to hire and train replacements. See NWA v AMFA. Unions make it harder for companies to take workers benefits on a whim, and put the profits in thier pockets (Tuesday Nov 3 | post #6)
Why is it AMR can grow American Eagle but not American Airlines?
The cheap side of the airline can grow but it is limited. There is a contract clause that limits the percentage of AMR flights that can be eagle. You will find AE more previlent in ORD due to slot rules. Anything under 100 seats has different rules. (Tuesday Nov 3 | post #3)
FAA, examine regs for pilot distractions
If you aren't supposed to use your laptop in flight why make the plane wi-fi capable and have an autopilot system HELLO haha (Saturday Oct 31 | post #2)

Feds Interview Crew Of Plane That Overshot Airport
What's the big deal? You mean to tell me you've never been busy talking and missed your exit on the highway. They just overflew thiers at 33,000 ft and 500 plus mph in a pressurized metal tube with 144 + lives with them. Oh and they had numerous impolite controllers trying to interupt thier conversation, they'd finally had enough when the uppity FA stuck her nose into it. Get these dedicated men back in the air ASAP, and remove any references of this incident from thier employee records. HAHA (It's been a while, please remember when I end my rant with haha the entire statement is sarcasm so don't reply telling me I'm an idiot due to my views. You are hopefully laughing about them) (Monday Oct 26 | post #2)
Pilot's name still on line, says widow
I'm sure this is really signifiicant. I just can't focus after the fact that people went on a DC-10 sightseeing trip to Antarctica. you would pay to see a polar ice cap. Is New Zealand that bad? I admit I would go there just to say I was there, but there are more unanswered questions here. I presume it would not land. So you don't actually get to go there. Did the pax rotate around so they all got a shot at the window to see it? Time for a google search I guess (Saturday Oct 24 | post #1)
American Airlines Lost $359 Million in the 3Q
The economy is recovering except for us, doom gloom. Planes are full, but only with people who don't pay enough to cover our costs. We are in negotiations with all of our unions. Our workers are fine. The raises that didn't cover the cost of living increase are stopped for our senior employees. Medical costs will go up first of the year. Hey they should be happy they have jobs and medical. The board of directors have voted to give us another multimillion dollar bonus. gee shucks ok (Wednesday Oct 21 | post #1)
Southwest adds more flights at Lambert, becomes airport's domin...
TWA was bought out and destroyed. Eagle pretty much ran the show there. SWA or anyone for that matter taking over as the dominant carrier in STL is like being lead chihuahua inthe pack (Wednesday Oct 21 | post #1)
