True! Although, there has been SOME trickle-down and some people making $10-$15/hour who would otherwise be making $7. (I'm only back for non-silly discussion; still editing) (Friday Oct 30 | post #38)
Nice thought on what to do with the money, but it is NOT "stimulus " money; it is CRDA (casino taxes) money meant for economic development and other NJ projects which, supposedly, help other people more permanently than a one-time hand-out. (Friday Oct 30 | post #36)
I saw the topic "Retired Jersey Boy" and broke my "fast" from the forum, curious as to what that heading meant. Sorry for what it turned out to be. Sounds like quite a guy. I'm honored to have "chatted " with him for a while. (Aug 22, 2009 | post #4)
Atlantic City Editor pricey222 will no longer post comments in the Forum---or even read the forum!. Here's why: (1) I'm getting too busy with other things, (2) I'm getting tired of the negative, nasty, off-topic, incorrect comments & lies mostly from people who seem to have an axe to grind which is not entirely related to Atlantic City, per se, (3) the landscape is changing for news aggregators like Topix (ie. News Corp is seeking to block/charge for access to WSJ; the Press of Atlantic City already blocks the Topix robot from crawling its site) so getting appropriate news is getting more difficult. To those of you who are informative and constructive, or simply have questions, I'll be leaving those other sorts of commenters for you to deal with! (I won't even read responses to this posting.) (Aug 6, 2009 | post #1)
I checked Absecon... I can't edit stories there, nor can I flag forum comments for deletion any more than other readers can. Quite a difference there, though; lots more purely local stuff that I usually keep out of the AC section because AC readers seem to be from a distance. (Aug 6, 2009 | post #17)
Like I and others have been saying, it's a city. There's all kinds of people. Sure, there are those people and places you describe. There are 30k residents and 200k to 300k transients in town at any given time. What do you expect? If you want "your" ideal place with your kind of people, and no others, maybe you should vacation in Stepford or at Sesame Place; although you might acuse the Cookie Monster of being a sugar addict.<br> As I said to someone else: have you been to Trenton, my/your state capital? Don't venture too far from the government complex area, in spite of years of "revitalizati on" efforts. (Aug 6, 2009 | post #16)
I can only, sometimes, kill posts, and even that takes time. I can kill stories, but they pop up everywhere when a locale is mentioned. While I disagreed with that blog, I killed it because it simply wasn't a news story. I'll take a look. (Aug 6, 2009 | post #14)

So you have researched exactly what Trump has been doing in AC to thwart CCC regulations? The authorities would be interested in your evidence. In the meantime, go ahead and just throw personal insults that have nothing to do with the discussion to cover your lies/ignorance. Without your proof, it is YOUR argument that is hollow. Send us the info and I will see to it that my CCC contacts get it. (Aug 5, 2009 | post #11)
We should tell the 33-million people who visit annually that they're wrong. (By the way, if you work here, you should know that any casino around for that length of time has been refurbed at least once.) Have you been to Trenton? Camden? Bridgeport, CT? Most US cities are dirtier than a comparable-size European city and probably other continents. But okay, fine, have your opinion and why not just work somewhere else---or does the ugliest city offer more opportunity? Curious. (Aug 5, 2009 | post #12)
No, it's you assuming people are scumbags, drug addicts and prostitutes just because they may look that way to you. Or did you confirm your suspicions by hanging out with them? Interviwing them? Testing them? Obtaining their arrest records, if any? (Are you Don's sister?) (Aug 5, 2009 | post #9)
So you're saying that your moving away did not improve AC? I disagree. There's now one less nasty bigot. (Aug 5, 2009 | post #7)
Guess I'm there every day as a matter of fact. And I don't concentrate on labeling people. If I did, I would still see that the majority are "normal, " although perhaps not by your standards. (Aug 5, 2009 | post #9)

Yes, I've already thought about it and decided to post the truth which is what I did. I'll change the scary picture when you change to another news forum. We already have one rude/wrong poster here (initial D.). (Aug 5, 2009 | post #8)
You're right about government corruption in NJ and AC, but the casino industry is about as clean as any other, anywhere. Most other, newer gaming juridictions have modeled their regulatory systems after NJ/AC, less so after Vegas. (Aug 4, 2009 | post #5)
Contrary to what some visitors to Atlantic City may think, there is more here than "just" casinos. True, casinos draw millions here per year (usually around tied with Disney World and Las Vegas, although visitors to AC don't stay as long on average). Only a certain segment of visitors confine themselves to the slots or the table for the extent of their visit. Many others have discovered the wide array of entertainment---in and out of casinos---and the cultural and family activities in the city and nearby. As this site seems to attract a majority of readers from outside of the area, we [third person usage as a writing tool only] will attempt to provide you with "news you can use" to help you enjoy your visit(s).
