It sounds very much like "Cement" Street Park was a former dump. Historically, gravel pits were often used as dumps after the soil was mined and the deep holes were filled with municipal and industrial wastes. As I mentioned in my last post, there are many sand and gravel pits throughout Castalia. Some have been filled, others have not. (see my last post regarding homes bordering Maple Ave., Bogard Rd., Barden St., and Tiffen Ave.) Parks, golf courses and subdivisions across the country have been developed on top of old dumpsites. A property title search of "Cement" Street Park needs to be done to help determine previous land-use. A property title search of Cement Street and Lester Street would also be a good idea.
