What is causing the ice to melt at the North Pole?

Recent years of explosive, searing hot volcanoes and the resulting hydrothermal vents below the Arctic have nothing to do with the melting ice at the North Pole, scientists say...Rather, “the huge volumes of CO2 gas that belched out of the undersea volcanoes likely contributed to rising concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere http://americansen tinel.wordpress.co m/2008/06/29/years -of-explosive-sear ing-hot-volcanoes- below-the-arctic-h ave-nothing-to-do- with-melting-ice-o ver-the-north-pole /  (Jun 28, 2008 | post #1)

Conservative Principles: English Language Dying Out in Miami

LOL. You're right. That may be the only way to get the Dem's behind an Eglish only law--claim the extra languages are causing us to release more carbon.  (May 30, 2008 | post #3)

Do You Believe in Death Bed Conversions?

Just to clarify, there are very strong moral positions in Christianity. Acting immorally brings punishment. But Christ said that we were helpless to save ourselves. It was his sacrifice that saved us all, but just because we have been saved doesn't mean that we've been given free reign. That was one of the central messages of various heresies that surfaced in the late first and second centuries.  (May 29, 2008 | post #60)

Fire and Brimstone, Hell and Damnation?

Kerdy, thanks for the post. You always seem to find interesting things for me to read. I promise I'm not just blowing smoke, but I find so many flaws in that article that I literally don't have the time or energy this morning to get into it. I'll bookmark it and maybe we can discuss it later. It's a very interesting read, though, and I thank you for bringing it to my attention. God bless.  (May 29, 2008 | post #10)

Disney has created a 14k gold plated noose necklace

The noose hung far more white people than black. In fact, there may have been more pirates hung than blacks. This is not an argument that blacks in america were treated well. Just chill out. Everyone needs to be less ethnocentric. It's just a damned movie and a necklace.  (May 28, 2008 | post #430)

Actually, demanding that an allegory be seen as literal history despite all evidence to the contrary is not exactly a good start in my book.  (May 28, 2008 | post #56)

Fire and Brimstone, Hell and Damnation?

Hey, folks. I deleted that blog because I decided not to update it anymore. I have a new one that follows the same line of thought but is with a better blog host. The reason I haven't posted a link to the new one here is because it is news oriented, and it just doesn't seem right. Not that I think, even in my wildest imagination, that I would be a competitor to Topix, but I just don't think it would be appropriate to link to a site that tries, however feebly, to do the same thing as Topix as far as presenting updated news. I'm certainly not afraid of disagreement. Modern Christianity is a cold and broken hallelujah, to quote a song. I can assure you that I still think that ID and creationism are stupid (as I've posted repeatedly on my new blog) and that fundamentalists are the new Pharisees that need to be fought against (again, another frequent topic on my new blog). I have been too busy to update this site, but kerdy and the rest are doing a better job than I was, anyway. I hope to have things wrapped up in a couple of weeks so I can start contributing here again. Just trying to keep one nostril above water.  (May 28, 2008 | post #8)

Creation Rediscovered: Evolution & the Importance of the Origin...

I don't want to get further into this. Belief in a literal interpretation of Genesis and Creationism is fine with me. But I want everyone to know that it is okay to believe the other way. We are not required to believe in a literal interpretation of Genesis in order to be Christians. To me, the creation story tells that this is God's universe and world and that He created us and so everything owes itself to God. And that, beyond that, God created us (either instantly or via evolution) in His image, which gives us a knowledge of right and wrong and puts more responsibility upon us. Through the creation and Garden of Eden story, we are told that God is the creator of all, that we are included in that, that we are naturally sinners, and that God expects obedience anyway, or He may punish us. Those same things are told by the story whether you believe that it is literal history or parable, so I don't see the problem. The Bible is chock full of parables. BRJHWH spoke in parables in many of his lessons. If BRJHWH made such an extensive use of parables, why not his Father JHWH?  (May 11, 2008 | post #52)

Creation Rediscovered: Evolution & the Importance of the Origin...

Just for the record, Wayne, it's not you I'm talking about here. On my site, I wrote a comment to someone else saying that I believed that the Earth was several billion years old and that God created man through evolution. I then had to spend a portion of each day deleting posts from people who felt God had given them the power to condemn me to hell. Not only that, but my personal email is attached to that site so I was receiving emails at home over it. Some were so angry it was almost scary. I want to make perfectly crystal clear the following sentiment: The road to hell is not paved with misconceptions about the book of Genesis. But all these people who hate in the name of Christ? I can only wish for them that there is no God at all. It would be better for them to be devoured by nothingness than to face what is coming.  (May 9, 2008 | post #30)
