Lighthouse project draft report ready for public review

How about giving people, all people, something to take pride in , have ownership of , gain accomplishment & self esteem in? Thinking, inventing, innovating? Creating, that is what it is all about. If you cannot think, you cannot invent. Honing the ceative mind has always given the United States it's edge. Feed the creative mind & you will gain so much in return. All levels of society can accomplish something. Sports is not the end all, be all. Critical Thinking is KING.  (Sunday Nov 1 | post #60)

Hicksville High School Newsletter

November 2009. We did the FIRST fringe festival ever to be held on Long Island in a 60 year tradition of fringe world wide........ Did you know it? Are you going to go to the 2010 fringe festival right here on Long Island? Do you know what a fringe festival is? I didn't until a few years ago.  (Sunday Nov 1 | post #11)

Lighthouse project draft report ready for public review

This is an important issue that those who do not live on Long Island would not understand. We need real jobs, not these low level silly make do positions. Nassau County has no administration for Culture. Culture, creative arts, theater, dance film, music & other areas of employment create real work for all the levels involved. Cultural Arts facilities also instill ownership & pride in their accomplishments. The area of Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum can house a cultural center, create jobs, instill ownership & employ thousands of Long Islanders in the long term. Sports are adversarial. Creative arts are cooperative. We already have sports....Nassau County doesn't even have an Office of Cultural Development. Creative Arts builds thinking in every area of life. Please consider these things when voting next week.............. .....  (Thursday Oct 29 | post #57)

The Artists Group - Long Island, N.Y.

The Artists Group was started as a result of The Art of Paleontology, a two day event to raise money for The Hicksville Gregory Museum, which featured artists, craftspeople and musicians joining together with the people of the community in an interactive celebration of all the arts. As we watched children and adults alike stare in amazement as 15 artists created beauty in front of their eyes, we realized that if you can stimulate these people then all of the above mentioned institutions would benefit. ------------------ ------------------ ------ Our founders, Debra Ann Kasimakis and Robert Goida, have over 30 years of experience in the world of art and performance. Debra Ann Kasimakis has been a professional artist with sales of over 3000 original artworks, has donated pieces to many charitable events and is the owner of Pandagraphics Design Studios located in Hicksville. Her recent work has taken on a more public leaning having done three full size horses for Nassau Counties Horse of a Different Color, an apple for The Big AppleFest in New York City and a Duck for Nassau’s newest project. Robert Goida has owned and operated Goldenreel Recording Studio, consulted on many audio installations, curated Art in Architecture 2005 and Artistic Autumn 2005 for the Nassau Conservancy and has been Production Manager at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts for the past 13 years. His experience in presenting major events is unprecedented on Long Island today. Together these two dynamic and creative personalities have come together in support of this major undertaking. ------------------ ------------------ ----- In 2009 The Artists group joined Tilles Center for the Performing Arts to bring the a fringe festival to Long island for the first time in history. ------------------ ------------------ ----- 2010 - Is shaping up to be a year that Long Island will not soon forget. We hope all the creative types yearning to push the envelope of imagination will join us for another year helping to change the face of ART on Long Island. We thank all the creative spirits that help make up The Artists Group & have brought us to this point of expression. Join us on facebook.
