Those are mere "talking points". Passe talking points at that.  (2 hrs ago | post #15591)

Physics and reality aren't the problem. It's false, manipulative, selective, exclusionary, concealed, and otherwise misrepresented data and conclusions in an attempt to skew the "apparent " physics and reality that are the problem..  (2 hrs ago | post #15590)

The original point had to do with mandating the use of solar panels. How do the winds affect radiated solar energy?  (2 hrs ago | post #15589)

ABC news reports that five frontbenchers from Australia’s opposition Liberal party have resigned their portfolios rather than follow their leader Malcolm Turnbull in voting with Kevin Rudd’s Government on a new Emissions Trading Scheme." Its always dangerous to make such judgments on party affiliations alone, and for us in the US moreso when we look at other countries. Party names don't always (or even often) mean the same thing as they do here, or even the plain language meaning of the words. These individuals stood against their own party leadership, a bold and courageous position. I'd have preferred them to continue the opposition from within. I don't condemn their move, only state my take on it.  (8 hrs ago | post #7011)

No Consensus On Global Warming.

You never heard of a liberal republican? I'll give you another name, John McCain. Okay, maybe LESS conservative, but not really. They both embrace many liberal ideas.  (14 hrs ago | post #20)

Courage of convictions is a rare and welcome quality. However, this move means there a now five fewer such ones in the legislative body. Hardly a good thing.  (14 hrs ago | post #7004)

Their play book says: "Always ignore or downplay reports adverse to our stated philosophy." or words to that effect.  (Thursday | post #13)

Alaska? Even during 24 hour sun, it is about 45 degrees below vertical at summer solstice. Less at all other times. Actually, I don't necessarily oppose the idea on buildings predominantly used during daylight hours. I do not however, think it should be federally mandated. Incentivize? sure. But the individual jurisdictions MUST still be empowered to make the best choice (that's "CHOICE" ) based on local conditions. If the feds want to force the issue, THEY should sit down with the jurisdictions and "participate " in devising a plan that works for those specific conditions. A "one size fits all" mandate is the worst thing they could do.  (Thursday | post #15572)

BTW, I do have deep respect for Jimmy Carter. He has been far more valuable as a former president than he ever was or could be as president. Perhaps that presages some home for Obama after 2012.  (Thursday | post #15567)

I see the alarmists have gotten their "talking points" lined up and can now rejoin the conversation. AGW "science " saving the world is kind of like shoppers "saving" money on sales for something they didn't need. There's no additional money in their pockets and a big hole in their wallets.  (Thursday | post #6997)

Another casualty of the AGW farce revealed by these revelations is the corruption of the peer review process. Jones email must surely be the tip of the iceberg in the matter of attempting control access to the science journals. "'This was the danger of always criticising the skeptics for not publishing in the “peer-reviewed literature”. Obviously, they found a solution to thatta ke over a journal! So what do we do about this? I think we have to stop considering “Climate Research” as a legitimate peer-reviewed journal. Perhaps we should encourage our colleagues in the climate research community to no longer submit to, or cite papers in, this journal. We would also need to consider what we tell or request of our more reasonable colleagues who currently sit on the editorial board. What do others think? 'I will be emailing the journal to tell them I’m having nothing more to do with it until they rid themselves of this troublesome editor.”“It results from this journal having a number of editors. The responsible one for this is a well-known skeptic in NZ. He has let a few papers through by Michaels and Gray in the past. I’ve had words with Hans von Storch about this, but got nowhere. Another thing to discuss in Nice !'” Briefly, tout the value of peer review as an absolute requirement for credibility, then control the access so no one not an "AGW insider" can get access. Neat. However the truth will out, and has been. Climate Research published some "skeptic " work and it itself is on the "outs" with Jones. One can only wonder how deeply the respected institutions of science have been likewise corrupted, including academia, the scientific media, the learned scientific associations and "the highest bodies of science review in the land".  (Thursday | post #6996)

Just like Jimmy Carter. He was a high thinker and little doer, too.  (Thursday | post #15558)
