Raw anger coming from crowds at GOP rallies and McCain, Palin d...

I am glad to see that you have recovered from your lobotomy, even though the result is an apparent penchant for spouting religious right lies and supremist doctrine. A few facts seem to be in order, although I am sure they will do nothing to alter your misdirected zealousness. Obama was raised by his white grandparents and has espoused their christian beliefs all his life. If a person's name was the only indicator of his beliefs, then we must believe that McCain is an IRA rebel who commits acts of terror in his homeland, Ireland. The country was founded on the principle of separation of church and state even though certain hard core nutcases such as yourself don't seem to believe that. False prophets and jesus-freaks such as yourself usually live inside walled enclosures and I would be surprised to find that you are running around in public. But then that is the beauty of our country. We are all allowed our opinions as long as we are not aiming a rifle at those who do not agree with us.  (7 hrs ago | post #112)

Biden is the one to fear

Get real. It has been two years now, and the Rezko thing is over. There has been non-stop snooping into every facet of Obama's past by Rove's minions for all of this time, and they have found nothing. You are delusional if you believe that Rezko is holding his tongue until after Obama is elected. So far, the only "things" they have found are the basis for the many untrue rumors about Obama. You know, the "Arabmusliman tiamericanhussein guy who won't pledge allegiance. Balderdash!!  (8 hrs ago | post #17)

Raw anger coming from crowds at GOP rallies and McCain, Palin d...

It's small wonder that the McCain campaign is now dealing with this sort of ire. The republican national party has so stirred up the voters with its non-stop slander and outright lies that the people who are for McCain feel that they are in peril if Obama is elected. It is time for the GOP to dial down the campaign of lies and hatred. They have only succeeded on further polarizing the nation. Their desperation is ruinous to the well-being of america. Worse yet, for the republicans, this negative campaigning is beginning to turn the uncommitted and independent voters off in a big way.  (8 hrs ago | post #21)

Economy is focus in candidates' second matchup

Do you understand english? The gist of my post was the refuting of the stupid rumors you are furthering. Yes, I intend to vote for Obama, not because I believe he is god, but because I believe he will be a better president than McCain. You should refrain from posting out here on the place where adults play.  (9 hrs ago | post #522)

Biden is the one to fear

Whether or not Biden is more "dangerous " than Palin misses one point. Biden, as veep to a much younger man stands much less of a chance of ever making it to the oval office than Palin, who would be veep to a 72 year old cancer survivor. That makes Palin much more dangerous than Biden. Above all, let's not forget that although Cheney took the duties of the veep to an all time high because "W" was such a wiener, the office itself only has the power allowed to it by the prez. Beyond that it is largely ceremonial and only counts when required to break a tie in the Senate.  (9 hrs ago | post #13)

Since your isp is located in Spain, I can't tell if the following applies to you or not. Fully 94% of americans recently polled have heard the false rumors concerning the candidates. Regarding McCain: He was brainwashed while a POW, he is senile, he has fathered a black baby. Regarding Obama: he is a muslim, he is the anti-christ, he refuses to say the pledge of allegiance. None of these malicious rumors are true. These and many others have long since been refuted. Only the ignorant among us give any credence to these outright fabrications, and those who repeat them endlessly are beyond being ignorant. Your question regarding a birth certificate is one of these ugly untruths. Obama's plan to have the youth of America voluntarily serve the country is no where near Hitler youth. It is closer to the peace corps of the sixties. Are you of the opinion that america's young people are so gullible? The spying on family and friends is the province of the current republican administration. They might be reading your e-mail right now. You obviously have the internet at your disposal, so how can you be so off the mark?  (Yesterday | post #442)

Bringing people together

Obama wasn't born in the Senate. His experiences go back further than that. As a community organizer, bringing people together is what the job is. Disparage community organizers if you will, but that job is probably harder than Senator. The US Senate is almost a lost cause. The bipartisan climate there is almost poisonous. Has been since the republicans decided to impeach Clinton for getting a hummer. McCain has some creds as a bipartisan activist also, but you can't count any activity with Lieberman who has his nose firmly pressed against McCain's sphincter in the hope of getting some plum assignment in the event that McCain is elected. Many attempts on the part of any politician to act in a bipartisan manner are often interpreted by the media as flip-flopping, so pols are often overly cautious, since changing one's viewpoint is somehow seen to be a bad thing and not part of a normal maturing process. Obama has chosen as his running mate a man who he hasn't necessarily agreed with over the years. Biden has occasionally been critical of Obama. That is another indicator of his willingness to hear other points of view.  (Yesterday | post #11)

Abortion undermines human rights on all levels

Come on, Dan. People screw up. Sometimes there is an urgency about some things that preclude cold logical thought. As I stated somewhere else, abortion viewed solely as birth control is not very efficient and way too expensive. But as a court of last resort, it should, no must be available to those women who would use it.  (Thursday | post #192)

Abortion undermines human rights on all levels

I guess not. My issue isn't with what's not advertised on TV, its with what IS. We are inundated with advertising for prescription drugs as if it is our place to go to our doctor and tell him what we should be taking for a particular malady. Drug companies spend more money on advertising than they do on research, leading to an occasional surprise discovery that some of these medicines kill people. And, of the prescription drugs being advertised on the airwaves, a good portion of them (timewise) are boner pills. Why is it preponderantly OK to advertise chubb capsules and warnings about four-hour erections, while condemning abortion as something akin to murder. If we are so willing to make ED disappear then we should have no gripe with those who find abortion necessary. (Although when used solely as birth control, abortion is not efficient) And yes, vasectomy is effective and should lose its purported stigma of a form of castration. Those of us who have had a vasectomy know full well that it is no such thing, but rather more like a license to go without rainwear.  (Thursday | post #191)

Economy is focus in candidates' second matchup

Speaking for us old guys, (and modern medicine)it's probable that McCain will make it through the next four years if he gets the job. That being said, a 71 (same age as me) year old fart with a history of cancer (not same as me) is running against the odds. That means that we could concievably have an even more empty headed religious nutcase running things then we have now, just when we need it the least. McCain screwed up when he chose Palin. By doing so, he just may have made himself unelectable.  (Thursday | post #387)

Abortion undermines human rights on all levels

Yeah, well that's cable. You can even watch "Butters " shoot people in the dick on South Park while Spielberg and Lucas rape Indy. Prime-time network TV is loaded with ads for Cialis, Viagra, and what ever other boner pills there might be. Somehow that's okay. Don't remember seeing any ads for Trojans on "How I met your mother". Birth control pills are disguised as pills that regulate her monthly cycle into non-existence, again, so the dude that is taking Viagra has someplace to put his corrected newly-ED-free member. And don't women secretly pray for that vaunted erection that last for four hours? (Sorry, my MCP side just reared its ugly head.)  (Thursday | post #156)

Abortion undermines human rights on all levels

Not wanting to split hairs over this, but willing to do it anyway, the Supremes did not make it legal for a woman to have an abortion, they decided that the prohibition of abortion was uconstitutional. Aside from that, does anybody notice the amount of advertising on national TV for boner pills? We have Viva Viagra, 36 hour sitting-in-a-batht ub pills, new daily dose hard getters, and not one ad for the morning after pill. Skewed? Youbetcha! Why can we have so much advertising for pills that make it possible to make babies, but not for pills that do away with pregnancy, or for that matter, why can't condoms be sold on prime-time TV? I did an informal survey from my recliner chair the other day, and for the period that I was watching, prescription drugs were around 60% of the advertising. With chubb makers a large portion of that. What does a mom tell her little kids when they ask about an erection lasting for over four hours?  (Thursday | post #150)

Bringing people together

Yes, the country is divided. It seemed to start when Clinton was in office with a republican congress. The division has paralyzed Congress for the last 16 years, and the american people are the losers of this standoff. As far as McCain being able to bring people together, this may be true, but the people he knows well enough to work with are the same people who have screwed up the country. Anybody would make a better president than Bush, but McCain represents the status quo much more than Obama does. Our best hope is with Obama who has shown that he will bring together those with different points of view to get a more rounded concensus of what needs to be done. McCain shows a tendency to go it alone, although not to the extent that GW has done.  (Thursday | post #1)

2008 Presidential Election

Economy is focus in candidates' second matchup

Blah, blah, blah... These "debates " are a joke. They serve no purpose as they are currently done. In the town hall format, supposedly someone asks a question, and each candidate answers it. Each candidate is supposed to limit his answers to two minutes. With a laughable one minute follow-up. Doesn't happen. Firstly, each candidate starts out his "answer" with a laundry list of what his opponent has done wrong on the issue. Then, a long-winded explanation of how he will do things right. Since there is inordinate fear of the dreaded GAFFE, (the media will swoop on gaffes like vultures) most answers are pure boilerplate. Two minutes? Don't make me laugh. There has never been one single politician that can answer a question in two minutes. I would like to see a "debate" that requires each candidate to answer the question wherein he is required to only indicate what he would do or is doing regarding the question that is asked by the poor citizen who is standing there waiting for an answer. We have been hearing the same old, same old from both of these guys for a year now, and I would guess that the majority of us have already made up our minds as to whom we want in the job. Watching these debates is like being invited to a fifteen course dinner and then being allowed to only eat the salad. (with no dressing)  (Wednesday Oct 8 | post #220)

Abortion undermines human rights on all levels

Apples and oranges. The 1973 Supreme Court was not deciding whether or not to have an abortion, they were deciding a point of law on appeal. What they found was that a woman has a constitutional right to govern her own body. Ruling on constitutionality is what they do. None of them had a stake in any particular abortion. If they had, my statement that as men, they should have no say on what is primarily a woman's issue, barring their involvement as procreator, still stands. I do just fine in the thinking end of things, thank you.  (Wednesday Oct 8 | post #116)
