in bed with depression

You have a good attitude! Don't let others on here put you down. I think everyone has bouts of depression now and then, just as everyone has times of joy and euphoria and just as everyone has both good and bad things in their lives. It sounds like you have the two biggest issues under control- confronting reality, and just getting on with it and doing what you've got to do. I've long dealt with relatives who have had long-term depression, and some have even made themselves physically sick because of it. It gets old fast. I recently had to deal with someone who had just taken to bed when a few things started going wrong in her life (quite minor things, too!)- and she was making herself sick and saying "I can't take it anymore!!!", and I was rather disgusted, and told her "That's life! You HAVE to deal with it; you don't have any alternatives to dealing with it! You're a big girl now, and life isn't perfect for anyone- it is what you make of it. You can make yourself sick and lie in bed, or you can live your life, but if you lie there passively, it's just going to get worse". That did the trick! It was like an instant cure and she has been good for several weeks now. For the ones who refuse to confront reality, I believe it is better to force them to confront it, than to coddle them. A lot of people with depression and other issues are often selfish, self-obsessed people. When people play into their hands, it just reinforces their faulty thinking, and they then continue with it. Back when people didn't have the option of staying in bed or spending hours talking about "THEIR" problems....they just dealt with it and got on with life. That was superior to what we have today, where people's faulty thinking and poor behavior is usually just reinforced. As for you, I'd say that you are doing more to help yourself than anyone is doing for you...and I'll bet that you'll be just fine!  (2 hrs ago | post #31)

sunday paper

What current events? LOL! These pathetic papers are filled with ads, bullsquat human-interest stories and propaganda.....if there's any space left over, they may publish one or two actual local news stories- And this is true of all papers these days. If they reported real LOCAL news, they wouldn't be able to slant it and editorialize and report only selective facts, to make the stories fit their agenda. So we get to knopw more abouit what goes on in TN. than in our own communities. And vise-a-versa. I wouldn't wipe my chooch with one of these papers! No wonder the newspaper industry is dying...it deserves to.  (3 hrs ago | post #7)

Why are Suffolk County Courts so incompetent and corrupt?

When all that is left of one's power is the ability to cast a vote....we have no power. This is why our Founders sought to enshrine our right to keep and bear arms.....because ultimately, only those who posess the power of brute force have any real power- and the only thing that restrains such power is an equality of the same. In a day when "they" posess armies and police forces which are rich and among the wor;ld's most heavily armed....AND the control over the minds of the majority of their citizens through the institutions of academia which they control...not to mention a pro-big-government media, which they also license.....we have virtually no power left us.  (14 hrs ago | post #50)

Why Dont Housewives Get The Credit They Deserve

Well since everyone else is reposting their old posts...what the hey?: I'll tell you, it weas the greatest blessing in my life having a full-time stay-at-home mom from birth through young adulthood!!! We were poor....but having a stay at home mother is better than taking a few fancy vacations or having expensive toys. I had many great times and memories...and the security of knowing that she was always there, and I never had to be left alone or in the care of strangers or shuffled from place to place like i was some kind of inconvenience. We may have lived in a rented apartment, but having a mom who was always there made it a real home. Literally half the kids I grew up who had both parents working, are already dead. My generation is paying the price for their parents errors (pretty sad when you can count a bunch of people whom you grew up with who all died in their 40's or younger- and we're talking mostly people who were from affluent suburban homes). And todays kids are going to fare even worse. I really feel sorry for them. And I count my blessings daily. In my book, a houisewife is the most important position in the world- and you can't hire someone to do what they do. You can hire someone to cook and clean, T'is true, but someone who really cares and is always there, is only something that can come from a real parent/wife.  (17 hrs ago | post #208)

Yes they are!!! Look especially for the non-hybrid varieties- they are "real food"- the stuff like our grandparents used to get. This crap they sell in the stores today isn't even fit to be called food- and most of the seeds ya buy in the regular stores are for growing that same kind of crap.  (17 hrs ago | post #27)

Why are Suffolk County Courts so incompetent and corrupt?

Good luck....but sadly, very few care. Get rid of one batch of crooks and they will just be replaced by another. It's all about money and power- and how much of it they can take from you....and they have the support of your neighbors, who care less about justice than about what they can take from your pockets through their elected officials. The US has become a defacto communist state (and especioally places like NY and CA)- Heck, just look at the corrupt ilk we have in DC- a politician from the m,ost corrupt political machine in the entire country, and he is rewarded with the office of president, because he led some low-lifes top believe that he was going to feather their nests with your money.  (17 hrs ago | post #48)

Do you feel like I do?

I hate to tell you- but it's actually much BETTER around here than it is in most other places. This country and our whole culture has gone to HELL. Cops EVERYWHERE are corrupt (This is why our Founders set up a system whereby we weren't supposed to have cops, but rather justice effected by the people). Although I would agree, that Glasgow/Barren is probably the pits compared to a lot of other places, locally. But it looks good compared to the big towns and cities. Fact is, if you live in ANY town or city, your life will be affected negatively by too much government and idiotic neighbors. Best thing to do, is live in the country.....where you still have some freedom and other people's actions aren't as likely to affect you. (And thank goodness there are still lots of rural places left around here and that it is cheap to live!)  (23 hrs ago | post #4)

Are you 5 years old? Do you really expect a third party to investigate the validity of everything that is said on here? An old saying: "If you do not believe in freedom of speech for your enemy- you do not believe in freedom of speech". Enjoy the freedom while we still have it. If you don't like something or find it offensive...too bad- that is the price one pays to ensure free speech for all. Simply ignore and avoid that which you don't like.  (23 hrs ago | post #7)

looking for photography classes

There's so much info out there, both online and in books.....you can leanr everything you'd ever want to know, and have the advantage of having 1000 different trachers and finding things that are ideallly suited to your own style and interests just by exploring a search engine or library. For instance, here's a site with some great info: http://www.kenrock well.com/tech.htm If you're into advanced techniques: http://www.kenrock well.com/tech/zone .htm Read everything you can on subjects that you're interested in. If you glean just one idea from each book you read or website you visit...you'll gain a wealth of information. In a class, you are very limited, just to one teacher who is teaching to a broad audience. Try what I suggest...and see what developes. 'Gringos'

So they'll stop deforesting THEIR land, only if we pay them to? (Or more likely, they'll keep doing it, and just say that it's O-K as long as we are giving them more money). YThis is part of the globalist/UN agenda (as is the Copenhagen "global warming" treaty, etc.) to "equalize " all the nations by transfering the wealth of the richer nations to the poorer, to establish their evil "one-world govertnment". Anyone who doubts this should just read the Copenhagen Treaty!  (Yesterday | post #2)

garden

Depends what you grow. Just standard stuff with pesticides and fertilizers: Forget it. You can't compete with Wal*Mart. You'll do a lot of work for very little (if any) profit. Organic stuff is usually quite profitable.....but it's hard to sell in this area. There just aren't that many people in this area who are into it, and willing to pay more for it. If you could find a way to sell fresh organic stuff to people in the big cities...then you'd have something! I grow oganic- and I just give my excess away or use it for compost or give it to the chickens- it's not worth the trouble of selling it.  (Yesterday | post #25)

Obese women

Are you kidding, Goodlooking Guy?! I've always prefered women with some meat on their bones....but let me tell you, if you think that a porker will be so grateful that a decent-looking guy is willing to date her...think again! Lard-asses are often nasty and bitchy (more so than the average woman)- they often have "issues" (which is often why they allowed themselves to become lard-asses) or they just don't care about their appearance, or about romance or about their man(or men in general). In general, I have found that fatsoes are a lot more trouble (And I'm just talking your a-little-overweigh t-pleasantly-plump er...it gets worse, the bigger they get!) By contrast, I've found that the women who are considered "beautiful " (I have my own ideas of beautyh- I like the plumpers...but when I say "beautiful " I mean the ones most others consider beautiful) are often the nicest and treat you like gold, and are grateful to be with a good guy (It seems a lot of the "beautiful " ones end up with creeps and weirdos and abusers....'cause usually the nice guys are too afraid or insecure to approach them, and so they are left with the very bold and egocentric. I was shocked when I was younger, and would hear beautiful women lament how they could not meet any decent, normal guys. I've seen so many beauties in abusive relationships, and willing to stay there, because they thought that it was normal- having never really known a decent guy. (You just have to stay away from the women who THINK they are "all that", as they are positively the worst!) Even though I like the plumpers, I had gotten to the point where I would no longer date them, as they were just too high-maintenance. I had much better luck with the "beauties " as far as the way they treated me, and just being fun to be with, etc. -and much less trouble. (Once you actually muster the courage to talk to them, they are actually far easier to talk to than half of your plumpers.) I found though, that with the "beauties ", I was the one shortchanging them, as they really weren't the type I wanted. So my conclusion is: Only consider dating women who you find attractive- and just keep trying till you find a nice one in that group, and don't settle for less. There are nice women as well as nasty bitches in every category. Finding someone who has the right personality and who is nice and who is also attracted to you, is a hard thing....no matter who you are and no matter what you like- so don't complicate things by thinking certain types of women will behave a certain way...just be honest...and follow your heart...you may or may not find someone good..but that is the only way you really have a chance to. As for me, I quit dating altogether! The "beauties " weren't all that beautiful to me, and I kept getting so much of the same crap from the plumper ones that I liked, I just didn't consider it worth the effort. Women in general are a lot of trouble!  (Yesterday | post #5)
