I think god exists as a concept in the minds of believers. This is my Obit for god in case you missed it. The last two sentences are the most appropriate to the modern day manifestation premise. GOD 30,000 B.C.E. 1/6/1966 CE God actually spent his whole life existing only as a mental construct in the consciousness of the highly evolved human brain. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly when he was born. Evidence for primitive worship have been found at Neanderthal graves. The Judeo-Christian god was in his prime in the Old Testament era, sending plagues, stopping the sun in the sky, parting the sea, & so on. You didn’t want to mess with God in His prime. As time passed, some of this kick-ass side of god became politically incorrect. Things like stoning adulterers, capital punishment for not keeping the Sabbath & such just weren’t cool anymore. So he sends in his clone “the Son” to take off the sharp edges off the Law, so to speak. The next 1500 years this god that exists as an infestation of the human mind started doing more uncool things. The crusades, the inquisition, witch hunts, etcetera. Again such atrocities were bad P R, and so began the terminal illness of god. More humiliation was to come, the age of reason & science. God was blind sided by evolution: DNA? WTF! Physics, both nuclear physics & astrophysics started the “death of a thousand cuts” of this once omnipotent, omniscient & omnipresent myth. The mental mirage of god was inexorably eroded by irrefutable facts. The New York Times pronounced the death of god on 1/9/1966. Technically god is only clinically dead, as the faithful still hold the belief in gods existence, analogous to a child’s belief in Santa Claus. Resuscitation would only be possible if the clinically dead god could make a sound or wiggle a finger. Sad to see a god in this state when we can still read in the bible of his miraculous exploits. interesting post. Why would god 'hide', or remain 'un-manifested' to our senses? It wasn't always so, as recent a the new testament Jesus (god) performed miracles. In Exodus god appears in person to mortals at least twice: Ex.24:9-11 & 33:20-23 (5 hrs ago | post #4108)

Religion and Terror Instead of a ‘war on terror’, it should be a war on religion. The enemy is the human mind that has accepted a myth as truth. The only difference in the Muslim extremist & Christians is the degree of fanaticism, & even that line becomes blurred (abortion doctor killings). Muslim extremist & Christians share the important things that matter. They both believe in the same mythical god of Abraham (Muslims call him Allah, Christians call him Jehovah) They both take the existence of this myth on faith. They both base this myth on ancient books. They both accept superstitious myths as reality. They both have moderate & extreme factions It could be said that the Muslim extremist make Christian fundamentalist seem weak & indecisive, in other words the Muslims could be considered (in their twisted logic), to be more ‘genuine’ or ‘sincere’. The bottom line is: both moderate & extreme factions in BOTH religions stand upon the same false, superstitious, mind damaging myth. (11 hrs ago | post #27421)
