Wikipedia has become very restrictive in what non-members and even regular members can do. What happened to the free-for-all spirit of the days of yore? Now you have to prove that you have "permission " to upload a picture via creative commons and if you try the regular upload, you have to be an elevated member of some kind. (Feb 19, 2009 | post #3)
Perfect Stranger Is No Perfect Neighbor
Bronson, those of us who appreciate history understand the need for preservation and the role that heritage deeds play in that. Thank you for taking a stand for the right thing, though it may be unpopular at the time. Respect for the stipulations left in the deeds by the land donors must be universally followed. It was their land and the heritage deed is like their last will and testament. You are sending the message that these heritage deeds must be universally, not selectively respected. Do not be troubled by the unintelligent and ignorant people who will see it only as you "taking their land" or "ripping up" the community. Those who are knowledgeable and intelligent will understand and support you in your historical preservation endeavors. Keep up the good fight! (Feb 4, 2009 | post #12)

Perfect Stranger Is No Perfect Neighbor
Sorry to disappoint you, but in the USA and online, everyone is entitled to express their opinion, no matter where they live. I didn't read about any complaints from the residents of Harford when Mr. Pinchot was ponying up the door to fix up the post office or the house that had been gutted by fire 20 years prior. DVD: Perfect Strangers Gets Ridiculous on DVD on February 5
That's what the rest of us are wondering. Damn Warner Bros probably won't release them. (Feb 1, 2009 | post #2)

Blatant misreporting. The gazebo was installed in 1994, not 1940. The original land owner, Mr. George Pritchard included a deed restriction on anything being built on the piece of land, which the Historical Society violated. Bronson wanted to honor the original land owner's wish, and yet is portrayed as the bad guy. Right... (Feb 1, 2009 | post #1)
Sixty-eight year old monument? Hardly. The gazebo was built and installed on the plot of land by the Harford Historical Society in 1994. George Pritchard, who donated the land to the Historical Society in 1941, stipulated in a heritage deed that nothing was to be built on the land, or it would revert to the deed holder, who happens to be Bronson Pinchot. Every one of the articles tries to paint Mr. Pinchot as some kind of tyrant who is ripping out an ancient landmark in some poor little village, while it is actually quite the opposite. Skokie to consider compromise on taxi parking ban
Why do citizens allow bureaucrats to pass laws about what can be done with their own property? If a person wants to park their pickup truck in their driveway, isn't that their right? (Nov 16, 2008 | post #20)
Y are people so angry on Topix?
People are angry because of tyrannical government and an economy in the crapper. People are angry because they are taxed, yet see no good come of it. People are angry because they pay property taxes, yet can be jailed for having a car parked on their front lawn. (Nov 16, 2008 | post #438)
Woman Living In Garage Says She Will Serve Jail Time
I was reading about this. These codes are nothing more than an excuse for petty dictators to bully tax paying citizens and extort even more money out of us. Politicians like the ones in La Quinta are the reason we have the Second Amendment. (Nov 16, 2008 | post #28)
Parents error in being their student's friend not parents
I agree with that sentiment for very young children, but teens are too old to need authoritarian parents. Parents should only serve as guides and mentors. (Aug 11, 2008 | post #2)
What if anything is being done to make certain that no more wolf pups are shot in the head by self-righteous wildlife officials? The people of AK have twice voted to end aerial shooting of wolves, yet it continues. Why is the will of the tax payers not be respected? Does the Alaskan government have so little respect for the land that it will just kill off any animal it sees as a threat to its lucrative hunting industry? Shame on each and every one of them for allowing this murder to continue! (Aug 5, 2008 | post #1)
