Law Proposed To End Text Messaging While Driving
I just hope you folks who are against texting while driving are not self-proclaimed "conservative s." Otherwise you're just hypocrites trying to increase government encroachment into the lives of good, hard-working Americans. So it's basically, "BAN TEXTING!!! Oh yeah, AND GAYS!!!!" Sorry. In a yucky mood tonight! (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #127)
Nancy Pelosi's health-care reform lesson: You can't always get ...
If you would do some research you would see that "entitlements " actually do stimulate the economy far better than tax cuts for the wealthy. "Trickle Down" does not work. Here's the skinny of it: If you give food stamps to a welfare recipient, they are not going to put them in the bank. They are going to spend them. Pure and simple. That goes into the economy. I think it was Forbes magazine or money that did a big article on this when the Stimulus Bills were being passed. I'll look for it and paste the link. (Tuesday Nov 10 | post #113)

OK, so my numbers were wrong, but the bottom line is still the same. According to the CBO, the health care reform bill will shave off $104 billion from the federal deficit over the next decade. But you were right, I got my numbers wrong. I don't know what in the world I was looking at. Here's another link if you care to be bored by reality. This one actually has the letter from the CBO scanned for your perusal. http://newmexicoin dependent.com/4080 8/cbo-health-care- reform-bill-will-s ave-104-billion (Oct 30, 2009 | post #37)

BARACK OBAMA BIRTH CERTIFICATE: Suit contesting Obama's citizen...
Marcus, here's a link to one of those polls by the way: http://www.zogby.c om/news/ReadNews.c fm?ID=1758 And Zogby's wrap-up:"With at least four of five voters saying the goals for healthcare reform set by President Obama are important, it's clear that he and the Democrats could reap big benefits from passing a bill. However, voters must believe that the specifics of the bill actually achieve those goals. As our survey demonstrates, doubts about the Democrats' proposals raised by Republicans have taken a strong foothold. The debate won't end if and when a bill passes, especially since most of the legislation isn't scheduled to take effect until 2013. Expect to hear more about rationing, socialized medicine and higher taxes right through the 2012 Presidential election." (Oct 30, 2009 | post #67816)

You might want to check those poll numbers again. Health care reform is polling very high, so I'm not sure where you're getting your information. (Oct 30, 2009 | post #67815)

Do you people ever read anything? This health care bill will, according to the CBO, cost around $10 billion and reduce the deficit by around $31 billion. You deficit hawks should be all warm and fuzzy by this news. Just in case you do not or cannot read, there is not, nor was there ever, ANYTHING in the health care bills that created, fostered, or supported ANYTHING even resembling a "death panel." This was a lie that Republicans told and re-told to scare the public. Believe me, just because Sarah Palin says something does not necessarily make it true. And can some of you Rushbots tell me how in the world you justify calling Obama a "Chicago thug"? Name one thing he has done to deserve that moniker. He has gone WAY farther towards bi-partisanship than his predecessor even thought of doing. The Baucus bill included more than 100 amendments added by Republicans and just like spoiled children they STILL wouldn't vote for it. If you want to call out Obama on something, you can call him out for his stupidity in trusting Republicans who demand additions to legislation threatening to hold their breath 'till they turn blue, and then won't have the class to vote for the bill after the additions are made in good faith. Cartoon Of Sotomayor And Obama Creates Outrage
It's political satire and yes it has racial undertones. However, it is protected under free speech and, quite frankly, I think it hits the mark spot on. The Republicans are viewing Judge Sotomayor as a pinata they can attack with vigor since they are not going to block her confirmation. They're taking out their aggressions toward the president on the judge. (Jul 14, 2009 | post #24)

They did not publish a book about mathematics or the English language either, but it doesn't prove that this country wasn't founded on reason and logic. I failed to disprove your point as through any logical viewpoint your point was not proven in the first place. And thank you for your kind words. I too enjoy a healthy debate without it getting personal and venomous. (Jun 16, 2009 | post #325)

However, the Bible being authorized by Congress to be used in schools does NOT in any way indicate that this nation was founded on Christian ideals and values. One does not prove the other. It does however indicate that Congress can easily stray from the Constitution if not challenged in the courts. (Jun 10, 2009 | post #293)

I wrote what I did in response to your (recited) assertion that liberals lose arguments because they argue emotions whereas conservatives argue facts. So regardless of whether you are a veteran -thank you for your service, by the way- I'm certain you can see that in the matter of the war in Iraq, the argument in its support was based on emotions, not facts. Well, that's all well and good, but I think you left out a few. Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone upon man -- Thomas Jefferson During fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What has been it its fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolences in the clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution -- James Madison This would be the best of all possible worlds if there were no religion in it -- John Adams In no instance have . . . the churches been guardians of the liberties of the people. -- James Madison Leave the matter of religion to the family altar, the church, and the private schools, supported entirely by private contributions. Keep the church and the state forever separated -- U.S. Grant And of course, from the 1797 Treaty with Tripoli, drafted by George Washington himself: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion, as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitian nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of harmony between the two countries." This "legislative intent" argument just keeps getting muddier. Perhaps you can clarify. (Jun 9, 2009 | post #279)

Yeah, try telling THAT to our soldiers in Iraq. Tell them how the "facts" used in the argument for invading Iraq were true and not just a play on the emotions of America. Tell that to the families of the fallen. (Jun 9, 2009 | post #277)
