Law Firms – Lawyers Ship Registration

Ship and Yacht Registration, Panama , BVI, Jamaica and Panama There are 2 ways to register a yacht in Panama. (Jamaica and BVI have some procedural differences) 1. A newly constructed yacht 2. A used yacht or such that has had another owner or been registered elsewhere before. In both cases the same procedure is required. 1. Fill in the enclosed application form. Please note that yachts don’t have so much info as is included in this form, however just by filling in the most you can and basic info, the job is almost done. 2. Before we make the application form here in Panama, we check to see if the name you have chosen is o.k. or available, otherwise we inform you and provide you some alternatives 3. After this, we apply for provisional registration which has a validity of 6 month. In this moment a Provisional Patent and Radio License are issued. 4. During this 6 month we need to present original documents to obtain permanent patent that have a validity of 2 years (normal vessels is for 4 years) 5. TAXES Also important to know, is that yachts only pay taxes once every 2 years and the amount is fixed in is USD.1000.00 6. NOTE: Panama does not have any restriction as to ownership nationalities 7. Original measurement survey is not required in Panama 8. Also in most cases yachts don’t need to make contracts with Radio accounting entities and by law it is permitted here in Panama that the owners be responsible for radio communication. This means that you only need to provide type and brand of radio equipment on board Example : Foruno 234 C . VHF So the above is the first step and the yacht is duly registered . www.gerlico.com  (Sep 10, 2009 | post #1)

Well Managed Companies WWW.GERLICO.COM Panama Legal Zurich - Ismael Gerli - Gerli & Co. Provided by GerliCo Principles of a Well Managed Company and its Benefits In an effort to keep our clients up to date in the new international regulatory processes on offshore practice, we are hereby proposing that our firm is now providing tax optimization structures under the newest scheme to benefit the adequate , safe operation of your tax structures. 1. Well Managed Company In some jurisdictions the territoriality principle applies, whereby no local corporation tax is levied on its worldwide operational income and profits of a company incorporated under such jurisdiction. Despite the fact a well managed company may be incorporated under any jurisdiction, we do recommend to use, those that are considered as jurisdictions of countries that cooperated with OECD, i.e. Panama, which has the largest shipping fleet in the world. For example in Panama we have a wide diversity of structures, to wit: • Panama Offshore Companies under the patronage of Law 32, 1927 • Panama: S.R.L or Limited Liability Company • Panama Foundations of Private Interest • British Virgin Islands International Business Company • Belize: International Business Company 2. Semi Offshore Company These jurisdictions offer a mostly favorable tax status. Such structures are often exempted from local corporate tax on profits earned beyond it legal jurisdictional boundaries, or subject to a nominal tax payment. Consequently, a GerliCo., structured semi-offshore companies will require filling of a local tax report on its locally earned income and capital gains within the jurisdiction (i.e. from local generated income) and not on its foreign income. Not necessarily does an semi-offshore companies has or is blacklisted, thus providing therefore a higher acceptance under a clear business reputation with its jurisdictions tax authorities clearance. Furthermore, most of these jurisdictions have entered into double tax treaties, which under all means are suitable for international tax planning. As examples of semi offshore companies we may provide such from the following jurisdictions: • Hong Kong Private Company Limited by shares • Wyoming/Delaware Limited Liability Company • Cyprus Company with VAT • Panama Company with local VAT or European VAT • Panama Foundations of Private Interest ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Panama Zurich - Ismael Gerli - Gerli & Co. For more than a decade Gerli & Co., international law firm, has been servicing international clients worldwide. Effort, success oriented leaderships, commitment and timely professional advise has been recognized by our client in Europe, Central and Eastern Europe.
