I can't understand why my comment is the only one disagreed with (must have been a powerhouse employee). The equipment at the LJ Rec center is extremely limited along with the space, however the price is right. As far as Powerhouse, I finally went and talked to the GM in person, after several attempts to contact them via email. Brett and I spoke face to face and he listened to my complaints, most of which were the obnoxious music they play there early in the morning (seems to be a bleed over from the evening before). Music that profanes God's name, praises adultery, and drug/alcohol use. Not exactly what I want jammed in my ears when keeping my body fit (garbage in, garbage out). He has made an attempt to rectify this but slippage still occurs from time to time. I agree with the post comment that the equipment is nice and a good variety. However I do not go to the gym to be entertained, I don't need multiple TV's and a blaring stereo, it's all junk anyway. This place had an extremely rough start and they are fighting an uphill battle to get on track. Honesty is the best policy when dealing with customers, the truth always comes out. You made the right call sir, I would not want to be tied to any place for two years. Especially without a proven track record. (Oct 12, 2009 | post #23)
Agreed Mary, my family and I are still members there. The equipment is extremely limited but for the price it is sufficient. I have been forced to change my position on Powerhouse. The music they play there is extremely offensive and loud (@ 5:30am) to me. I have written the manager THREE times and not even gotten one acknowledgement. I can't wait until my contract is up so I can quit that guy. Due to his lack of respect for the patrons I can only hope that he will not last in Lake Jackson. (May 12, 2009 | post #20)
