Honestly, I have no doubt in my mind that this happened. I wish there was a way that more people in Pensacola could be informed about the supposed 'law enforcement' in this county. The deputies do what they want and the citizens of Escambia County pay for it monetarily and emotionally. It is wrong, but I am at a loss of what to do. Maybe if we all go around with a camcorder and start spreading their ignorant actions all over the news via video, but who has time for that. (Wednesday Dec 16 | post #77)
The Escambia County deputies are hands down the most uneducated individuals I have ever met in my life. Especially to be calling themselves "professional s". It is because of that type of law enforcement mentality that we have such an enormous amount of domestic violence. Citizens, particularly women, are asking for the deputies who have taken an oath to "protect and serve" to actually comply with that oath and they make the citizens feel like they are an imposition. Robert Matthew Clark, but he calls himself Matt Clark. (Oct 9, 2009 | post #72)
Clark is #201. But it sounds like the abusive behavior is running rampant through ECSO. (Oct 2, 2009 | post #69)
Also, I would suggest that you stay in close contact with your son. When I had the displeasure of being in the booking area, waiting for my husband to post my bail, the deputy or clerk or whatever she was told me not to look at her because I was making her nervous. Then I sat in the "wrong chair" after being told to sit down by this same clerk and she sent another deputy/clerk over to me and told me that I had to go into the "holding tank", when I asked why she said "because I don't like the way you're looking at me". I was not looking at her, but the point is when you are in there they evidently feel like they can treat you any way they choose. I tried to report the information to the Sergeant on duty and he said he would look at the videos and walked away. Then another sergeant came up to me to walk me out after my husband posted my bail and he began asking me about the situation I was complaining about, so I was telling him and he just kept making excuses for the behavior of the 2 women. I told him no matter what he said there is no excuse for an individual to be treated with such disrespect and torment. When I would not accept any of his excuses, he said "what do you want us to do spank her". I simply said that is the uneducated, ascinine mind set of ESCO and then I walked away. As he was giving me a piece of paper with the court date, I asked the woman for her name and she absolutely refused to give it to me and then he shouted "if you want to blame someone, blame me and he gave me his name". There is no justice in that close minded, uneducated system but that needs to change. I can definitely understand your concern for your son's safety and well being. It is a valid concern and you should do everything possible to make some noise and let others know. Visit your son as often as possible to check on his safety/well being. (Jun 22, 2009 | post #63)
I think you are on the right track with stating your problems. I too have had the displeasure of dealing with Escambia County Sheriffs Office and their blatant disregard for the rights of individuals, as well as their abuse of power specifically (in my case) by a Deputy Robert Matthew Clark on 5/28/2009. The problems of ECSO run deep. When I got home after myself, my husband, 3 of my children, and 2 of my grandchildren were abused by the above mentioned officer I began to do some research into this fool's background. I wanted to know why an individual would think it was okay to shout profanities and demean a family, including the children, in the parking lot in a public area, and I found out that he treats his own wife and children this way. I found out that he has domestic violence charges against himself, has had two restraining orders placed against him, and at one point custody of his own child was given to his parents. How are the citizens of this county supposed to feel protected? I would be glad to help anyone start a petition, buy a billboard, something to stop the madness in this county with the very ones that have taken an oath to protect and serve. Good family or not, if he made the choice to harass a child, then he should pay the consequences. They are many bad people that come from good families (Jun 14, 2009 | post #60)
I think everyone would be surprised at their findings if they look into the backgrounds of Escambia County Deputies. I experienced ECSO incompetence first hand a few weeks ago. This particular officer shouted profanities at my 14, 16, and 18 year old children, as well as my 3 and 5 year old grandchildren. My children have been taught to respect the law and the officers that are in charge of upholding the law, but now I am concerned about them trusting ECSO deputies. (Jun 14, 2009 | post #59)
If Jamal were white, he would be under the jail. I think the ECSO is afraid to do their job. Just like the witnesses were afraid to testify. If it was a deputies child that were injured you can rest assured there would be so many bullets in Jamal long before he was able to get rid of the gun shot residue or glove or whatever he did to wipe his hand clean. I wish the ECSO would get a backbone and do what they are paid to do. Protect the Public, not their own personal interests. (Jun 4, 2009 | post #19)
