Gay Marriage in D.C. Passes First Test

What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
Now is that in reference to the multitude of similar myths from other cultures, or specific to Judeo-Christian history? Sounds like an interesting book... I'll have to look for it. (Tuesday | post #286)
Gay Marriage in D.C. Passes First Test
Our national leadership might have their heads up their behinds where gay rights are concerned, but at least the locals have a clue. (Tuesday | post #11)
Sexual repression can be a serious mind-f--- (no pun intended). I've read articles regarding the impact on women in the Victorian Era. There was a lot of info on the medical protocols for treating women with what was referred to as "hysteria ". The description of the procedures and equipment was essentially a manual for giving female patients an orgasm. Things that make ya go, hmmmm..... Kind of makes sense, given what we know about the effects of hormones, especially when they're out of balance. (Monday Nov 30 | post #124)
What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
Thanks! You explained that much better than I would have. Many refer to the Bible for the "final word" on whatever issue is at hand. However, that reasoning is only valid if the Bible is considered to be an accurate, infallible historical document. There's many Christians who don't believe that. They recognize the influence of the social context that existed at the time the Bible was written, along with personal bias of those who wrote it or chose which writings were to be included. Then there's the rampant errors resulting from faulty translations and other issues that occur when stories are passed along for centuries. And volumes have been written, debating the interpretation of the document in its current form. (Monday Nov 30 | post #273)
What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
So where is the verse in the Bible that says you get to declare who is a Christian, and who is not? (Sunday Nov 29 | post #267)
Christian Bussiere Feels bad for you meadville people
Constance needs to be very careful. The Meadville cops aren't above manufacturing bogus police reports, and they don't just target blacks. My fiance has been battling Crawford County over false drug charges brought by Officer Brian Joseph. The DA knows that Joseph is corrupt, and won't do a thing about it. (Saturday Nov 28 | post #2)
Children not restrained in deadly accident
I heard last night that the 1 year old boy has passed away... is that true? (Saturday Nov 28 | post #50)
What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
You're exactly right. And there are Christians that think the same way, that the Judeo-Christian concept of God is only one aspect of the Divine. The Christian deities also include Lucifer/Satan. I guess it could be said that angels and demons could also be called "deities " of some sort, though I would think they'd be considered something more like "demi-gods "?? And if you want to get into Judeo-Christian mythology in general, there's also the Shekinah, Lilith, Mary, and I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of them at the moment. (Friday Nov 27 | post #244)
What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
Again, not all Christians follow that same definition. Also, the concept of God/Goddess is considered by many to mean that there is more than one manifestation of Deity. Which means that the Christian deities could easily be included. So it would seem that the argument wouldn't actually be whether or not Christian Wiccans exist, because they do. The question would be whether or not they can be "true" Christians or Wiccans. And to answer that, who gets to decide who is or is not a "true" anything? (Friday Nov 27 | post #238)
What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
That would very much depend on who we ask. There are Christian sects that don't recognize others as being Christian, if they don't follow the same beliefs. For example, many of the more Fundamentalists groups don't consider the Catholic Church to be Christian. (Friday Nov 27 | post #237)
What the heck is a Christian Wiccan?
It depends on one's interpretation of the Christian faith. Again, not all Christians follow the literal interpretation of the Bible. (Wednesday Nov 25 | post #234)

That's why I was so relieved when McCain/Palin didn't get elected. Her churches' ties to the Dominionist movement made me seriously nervous. Not the kind of people I'd want to see in a position of power. (Wednesday Nov 25 | post #233)

She wasn't referring to the Wiccans/Witches. She was referring to the random clowns trolling the thread. (Monday Nov 23 | post #63)
