Manhunt Founder Steps Down Over McCain Contribution Firestorm

Well, I've officially given up on the GOP. Call me newly-independent. But you must admit: It's not just social minorities voting for a condescending GOP. There's a lot of blue collar red-necks who still like GWB. I guess they just like the way he says nucular.  (16 hrs ago | post #14)

Appeals court rebuffs challenge of Oregon's domestic partnersh...

Gay-rights opponents sought to use the decision as a rallying cry. "Today's 9th Circuit decision perfectly illustrates why, in November, we need to elect conservative legislators and state officials who respect our values, our democracy and Oregon's Constitution, which clearly defines marriage," said Craig Myers, a spokesman for Concerned Oregonians. Gee, it sure sounds to me like the judge respected the decisions of the bureaucrats carrying out the will of the legislature. Those are the same people who scream about judges overstepping their authority when they overrule regulations that they like.  (Friday Aug 15 | post #1)

You're right: Crutchley has the right to spend his money how he wants without being demagogued. And we have a right to seek other vendors--just as the Christian right is always pretending to do. But what amazes me about this story is how the Republicans keep getting people to vote against their own best interests. It seems like those least likely to benefit from Republican economic and social policy are the most likely to vote Republican. I wish someone would explain that to me. . . .  (Friday Aug 15 | post #8)

Nephilim, you are getting sillier and more desperate with every post. Fuzi thinks people of faith misplace their trust, and he dislikes religion. You believe homosexuality is unnatural and you don't like it. So which of you is more bigoted? Why are we having this discussion between a pot and a kettle?  (Wednesday Aug 13 | post #634)

The Bible has much less to say about homosexuality than it has to say about judging and being judged. In fact, it has almost nothing to day on the subject of homosexuals.  (Monday Aug 11 | post #601)

Thanks for putting your ignorance out front. That is among the stupider things you've said. GLBT's live everywhere in the US, as was pointed out by the 2000 census. While there are pockets of higher concentrations than others, by no means do "most live in Long Beach or San Francisco." Indeed, you probably know some gays and lesbians very well, but are unwilling to recognize them. You claim GLBT's make up less than 10% of the population. I agree. Let's go with 2-3%. That means about one in 40. How many people do you go to church with? Several are probably GLBT. How many cousins and aunts do you have? Some of your blood relatives are probably GLBT. Many of the classmates that you went to school with are too. That's what was meant by "surrounded by gays and lesbians."  (Monday Aug 11 | post #600)

The only thing I've gotten out of Marvin's posts is that he's a victim. He's angry and he lashes out at others to assuage the messages of inferiority that he's internalized all these years.  (Monday Aug 11 | post #586)

Don't be deceived by homophobic liars. They are simply bigots condemning others because they are so miserable in their own lives. Vote to bring more stability and the joys of marriage to more families. Don't be fooled by lies that Proposition 8 protects anyone's marriage: That is entirely up to the participants in that marriage. Vote no on Proposition H8.  (Sunday Aug 10 | post #581)
