Ok, not trying to jump in the middle of this little word swap - but I can't be the only one who sees this going a little too far. Threatening to do physical harm to someone (and these are threats, inadvertant or not) will get someone in some serious trouble. Voicing threats over the internet is taken just as seriously as communicating threats over the telephone... and you can be prosecuted for doing so. For the most part the people who are opposed to gay adoptions are the ones on here slinging mud and posting facts without a shred of anything to back them up. I just wanted to say how wonderful it is that you are so open and out in your daily life. I don't "look" the part of a lesbian. When I'm driving around town in my mini-van with my kids the rest of the world just assumes I'm a typical mom. They have no clue that my spouse is a woman and my kids are adopted. I get treated with respect, people are kind to me, and comment on how beautiful my children are. Now - my spouse does "look the part" a bit more than I do. She does dress a bit more manly (think Ellen) and we are very "open" when out together. We hold hands, and the kids call us both mom. When we are all together people are no longer kind, we no longer get treated with the same respect, and very very few people comment on our children. These same people who are so kind to me when they ASSume I am a straight woman with children turn vile when they are faced with the reality that we are a family with an alternative lifestyle. But instead of still treating us all with the same kindness and respect - they are rude and no longer kind. Kind of hypocritical, no?  (Feb 1, 2007 | post #547)

You are so misinformed that it's sad. Do you really think that it bothers me that there are a couple of closed minded idiots out here who don't like the fact that I go to bed with a woman at the end of the day?? Not in the slightest. Because what's funny is we've been in this community for a long time and we know who supports us and who to stay away from. Its so interesting that all of you put on this forum these horrible things about someone that you don't know. Heck, my kids probably go to school with some of your kids, I've probably treated some of you as a patient, and I'm certain we've passed each other in Wal-Mart. The fact of the matter is who someone sleeps with doesn't make up who they are as a person. But of course - most of you WILL live up to the backwoods redneck stereotype. Uneducated and opinionated on situations you don't have any information about whatsoever.
