Office Depot: Caught In The Shredder

He should have never been hired to begin with. The company has steadily gotten worse and worse. They wonder why sales are down but all they need to do is look at themselves and what they've done to the company. Fortunately for me I will be getting a new job soon so I will be able to leave all this mess behind me. It's a shame. Even though OD is retail and not the best job in the world it was still a fun place to work at one point in time. Now it's all about numbers that mean nothing to anyone except the managers who are fighting to keep their jobs.  (Monday Aug 18 | post #2)

Office Depot stock falls on preliminary results

Don't forget, now they are getting rid of the vending machines in the break rooms too! Not a huge deal but still another employee perk down the tube. I agree with everyone saying OD used to be a good place to work(or at the very least much better than it is now). OD used to be about keeping people happy. People meaning customers first, then associates. Now it all about numbers; market basket, PPP's, mystery shop, and a bunch of other stuff that means absolutely nothing to anyone who isn't a manager. OD expects people who make 7 dollars an hour to work like they are making 15. It's no wonder why our stock is in the tank and our sales are down and our stores are like ghost towns.  (Jul 9, 2008 | post #15)

It's too bad most of the good employees won't last (or haven't lasted) until next March. The damage has already been done. OD's next CEO is going to have quite a hole to dig himself or herself out of.  (Jun 22, 2008 | post #34)
