Lebanon's 'Non-ID Palestinians': No legal status, no hope
OK, so the indigenous people have to leave but those who caused it get to stay? Sorry it doesn't make any sense but then again nothing that Muslims do make any sense-don't think that I am just spouting off, I personally know several Muslims. (Tuesday Dec 8 | post #5)

Lebanon's 'Non-ID Palestinians': No legal status, no hope
PLO who came into Lebanon in the 70's, aren't they the ones who contributed to the slaughter of 100,000 Lebanese Christians during the civil war? Sure, let's reward with them with citizenship. Why have they not been deported back to where ever they came from? They've just been left there to hyperbreed along with the Shi'ite and Sunnis to outnumber the remaining Christians, who have not been killed or immigrated. This practice of hyperbreeding is disgraceful not to mention a burden on the economic welfare of Lebanon which is tenuous at best. (Monday Dec 7 | post #2)
Lebanese general tells military, prepare for Israeli attack
Dan, but it's OK for us to get mixed up in Afghanistan and Iraq, Oh yes we're fighting terrorists. Well, what about the terrorist camps in Lebanon? What about the terror the Lebanese have to live with daily? Afraid to be too friendly with someone because they are verbally supportive of the US; unable to make a living if it is known that you support the US; unable to feel safe because you don't know if you will be attacked; or not knowing if a "friend" will turn you in to protect himself. I'm sorry, but enough is enough, it's about time the west flex it's muscles and exert some of that formidable power to help Lebanon and let it be well known, without a doubt, that Lebanon is to be protected and preserved as the Holy Land. Lebanese general tells military, prepare for Israeli attack
Dan, this has all happened because Lebanon has been used as a pawn in so many negotiations, it has been abandoned by the west for what it was set up to be. Lebanon is a tiny, voluptuous country, no wonder everyone wants a peice, but there aren't enough peices to go around. I just heard this AM that Obama has invited the Lebanese president to come here for conversation, hopefully he doesn't mess it up. Obama needs to agree to help Lebanon to: 1] neutralize Hezbollah, 2] to get the Palestians out of Lebanon and into their own place be it part of Israel or part of Saudi, 3] neutralize the Sunni agenda, and 4] most important of all stabilize the Christian position by restoring pre-Taif presidential powers and pre-Taif Christian society, and restoring safety to Christians and jobs. Unless he does this and follows through with this he will lose the Christian support and believe in America forever; as it is it is waning now, and those Christians who support America are scared with good reason they are being hurt and killed and nothing is done about it. If he doesn't he will be signing their death warrants, and will lose Lebanon to the west forever. This is the Holy Land, Christ and His disciples walked this land, His disciples and the early Christians escaped here because of the Roman persecutions, this has been the home of Christians since the first century. The US is the goose who lays the golden egg, well let's lay a big one on Lebanon; we have sent far too much money and help to Israel and not nearly enough to Lebanon to help the Christians to preserve their land, WHY NOT? LEBANESE PEOPLE... are not -- "Arabs"
I imagine that when they have drained the underground dry of oil they'll just kind of sink into the sand and be buried. HMMMMMMMM maybe it's the way to hell. (Friday Nov 27 | post #547)
Hezbollah leader lashes out at Obama
Being patriotic Americans we must stop those who would take God out of the American equation in their misguided tracks. Aside from hog-tying them the ballot box is our only legal recourse. Of course what to do about the ACLU; I say we send them to their rooms without supper until they can learn to play with others without degrading this great country. It's fine to defend the minority or downtrodden but not to the extent that you befowl the rest. (Friday Nov 27 | post #52)

Lebanon would still be there because there is no oil in Lebanon. Perhaps if Lebanon had US money coming in as Israel has it could be less dependent on Saudi or Iranian money, therefore less opportunity for terrorist activities. If this would occur perhaps there would be more respect for the US in Lebanon instead of this hatred that is of course fostered by Syria and Iran. Although, there are in Lebanon those who support the US but they are terrorized by Syria and Iran's pawns-Hezbollah and al-Marada. (Friday Nov 27 | post #51)
Hezbollah leader lashes out at Obama
No, I never mock our service men and women, they are the reason we are able to enjoy our freedoms, unlike other countries who kill anyone who speaks out against whatever the present government is. I come from a long line of fighters for our country; on my Mom's side from before the Civil War [on both sides], my Grandfather was too young for WWI and too old for WWII so he served on the civil side, a cousin was in the Navy; to my Dad's side, his Father, an immigrant from Lebanon, fought for the US in WWI, my Dad in WWII was a tailgunner in the army Air Corp [from what I've been told by others one of the most dangerous jobs], 2 brothers were in the Army, an Uncle who was a pilot and later one of those guys who carry a briefcase cuffed to their wrist, a cousin from Mexico served in the US Army, my husband was in the Army; I have a 9 yr old grandson who wants to be a soldier. So I have a great deal of respect for our military personnel. When I am out and about if I see a soldier I go up and shake his/her hand and thank them. At Mass 2 weeks ago the priest blessed a wife and mother who was in fatiques, she was leaving for Iraq, after Mass they had reception for her. We should honor our service men and women and thank their families for the huge sacrifice they are making, some the ultimate sacrifice. God bless our service men and women! God bless America! And Happy Thanksgiving! (Thursday Nov 26 | post #32)

Lebanese general tells military, prepare for Israeli attack
Your friend sounds like a very nice person, as are most Lebanese, you are very lucky to have her as a friend. I was born here and didn't know much about Lebanon, I learned alot of my info from my friend, also, but since then I have read a great deal. Your friend is correct, in order to survive and make any kind of living many have left their homeland, my fear is that the educated ones who could really make a difference will be gone or murdered. I agree with what you have said; but I would add to your list of those who want to exist, to be recognzed and to be safe, the Lebanese Christians. We have been atacked from all sides to try to destroy us and run us off of our land, from Syria and yes from the Israelis and the Palestinians, and throw in the other Arab nations for good measure. It's a wonder that we have been able to survive at all; and shame on those who would slander those who have left Lebanon to protect their families. But, we shouldn't have to leave, we should be able to live in peace our homeland. (Monday Nov 23 | post #17)
LEBANESE PEOPLE... are not -- "Arabs"
And what pray tell is their agenda for investing sooo much in Lebanon? Maybe the sunnification of Lebanon? Maybe the take over of Lebanon? It's one thing to genuinely want to help/assist another country to recover, but it is totally another thing, and might I add inappropiate, to remake a country to your benefit and the detriment of the indigenous peoples-that is a take over. By doing that you destroy the reasons why you were charmed by that place to begin with. Lebanon is a great place to begin with you cannot improve upon that with your gaudy, bawdy palaces and hotels. It's personal, sorry. It's basically just the mixture of ME and French accent speaking English. Or maybe it was just the man that I met that melted my heart. (Sunday Nov 15 | post #16)
