Trestle repair contract awarded
Deborah, I believe that is what the article would like you to think. "In 2006, U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M., learned of the project and gave his support" "Funds have been procured through various grants and appropriations, allowing for awarding of this contract." It's my understanding that there were alot of donations involved in this but that the Govt. is picking up part of the tab. I've got no problem with the Govt. paying for part, or even all of it as it sit's on Govt. land. My biggest concern is that if they are going to do it they need to make sure that it's done right. As it sits it's a historic landmark. If they use modern building material and technques etc. to fix it then it's just another tourist trap! (Friday | post #13)
Why should Alamogordo cease to exist??????
I would encourage you to explore the Lincoln National Forest. I've lived here for over 40 years, wander the mountain as much as I possibly can, and I still have not seen all it has to offer! (Thursday Oct 9 | post #5)
The truck was loaded with watermelon. It took that period of time to unload the truck and get all the mess loaded into dump trucks. The wrecker was not able to move the wreck until the trailer was unloaded. The wreck caused extensive damage to the truck and trailer but most of the contents till had to be removed from the trailer by hand so the loader could access it. (Wednesday Oct 8 | post #6)
And I didn't see any mention of it in the print version either. I was told that it made one of the Albuq. T.V news reports though. (Wednesday Oct 8 | post #4)

Pinon crop in lower West Side was poor to say the least. Most of what we found were non producing hulls. Did some checking around the house and found the same thing. BUT the tree on the way to the bus stop this morning produced about 8 ounces of good ones. (Monday Sep 29 | post #6)
Thank you. There is no doubt that I am the lucky one. Edmundo, you know about my "good" hat LOL Just about getting cool enough outside that I can start wearing it again;-) (Wednesday Sep 24 | post #2519)

Was in Haynes Canyon. The plan is to hit West Side in the next few days and see what it looks like. Maybe a muddy mess though as it's raining here now. If we get out I'll let ya know how it looks. (Tuesday Sep 23 | post #5)
Looks like a pretty good crop this year. The daughter and I have been gathering them every morning on the way to the bus stop. I have a batch salted and roasting in the oven this morning;-) Anyone else addicted to these things? (Tuesday Sep 23 | post #1)
