Election Poll, June 2012 - Carlsbad, NM

ABO. Anybody but Obama. Actually Mitt is better qualified than Obama ever was.  (Aug 17, 2012 | post #16)

Tiger Woods Crumbles in Barclays' Second Round

Tiger Woods Shoots 65 at the Barclays

Tiger was an ass BEFORE all his marital "troubles " began. I can't stand the man. He overreacts to putts (his fist-pumps are over emphasised), hardly ever acknowledges the croud or his fans. He is quite arrogant. Even the last place player will at least tip his hat to the crowd. "Tiger is a Fraud" is probably correct in his assessment. Now that the divorce is finalized, he starts playing well??? And I do not use Nike balls because of him. Besides, it's not the ball, it's the player.  (Aug 27, 2010 | post #4)

Arctic cold could be on the way to Carlsbad, weatherman s...

I am a transplanted Marylander and I remember snows in the 1960's where they would close the school for a week. Sure we had to make up the days at the end of the year (1 day for every 3 missed) but I don't remember it being the bitter cold that NM has. We would play in the snow for quite a while. Guess it's the altitude??? I lived in Clinton, Hughville, Dunkirk and North Forestville and I know Leonardtown fairly well.  (Jan 8, 2010 | post #43)

Cost of fuel

Back on track, we just got back from Phoenix and prices were $2. mid 40's to $2. mid fifties everywhere (El Paso, Las Cruces, Tuscon, Glendale, Perioa, Sunsity and Phoenix) except here and the so called "travel centers" between Las Cruces and Wilcox AZ. Just before we left, gas was 2.75 and now it's 2.79 again.  (Dec 31, 2009 | post #104)

Roswell Ford

This is true. We purchased a vehicle at Roswell Ford in the past because Fordtown did not wish to talk price. The window price was what they wanted. Well we got a Mercury Topaz for less than what Fordtown wanted for the Ford Tempo. Albiet it was several years ago, but the same thing happened recently when we were looking for the Escape. Got it at Premian (Roswell did not have what we wanted).  (Nov 25, 2009 | post #2)

Cut from Cavemen hoops, Lynn advancing in Div. III

My thoughts exactally. Why wasn't the coach interviewed. It one of the MANY reasons I quit the paper after many years. I was only getting it because the delivery girls were saving for college and they did a fantastic job. Once they left for school, the paper went bye-bye. And you know, I don't miss it.  (Aug 24, 2009 | post #28)

Carlsbad soldier recovers from Iraq war injuries

I know Mike. He is always cheerful and goes out of his way to assist anyone. I was saddened to hear of his wounds but am very gladdened that he is on the road to recovery and is doing well. Hurry up, Mike. We need your presence in Carlsbad.  (Jun 30, 2009 | post #3)

Doctor Pendrak

Don't know why the referral, but Dr Athigamon is returning around the middle of July. We've had a couple of surgeons "local tenum" and I think one is still here but for how long I don't know. I like Pendrak. He's a good egg and the fact he is a Hogans Heros fan is another plus for me.  (Jun 29, 2009 | post #2)

Be brave, be factual CA

Quite right. Focus on local news. For instance: at least 6 cars were broken into at the hospital and I heard more at the Comfort Inn across from the hospital Wednesday (6/24) night just before midnight. No mention of it at all. Small matter but it's the only one I could think of off the top of my head. There have been others. I get the paper to help the delivery girls make money. They just graduated high school and are getting ready for college. When I get the bill in August, I am cancelling that rag I call the "Not so current garbage".  (Jun 27, 2009 | post #2)

Besides, it seems to me that the city is more concerned with getting retirees than tourists. There is a big campaign to get retired folks to move here.  (Jun 26, 2009 | post #6)

Mixed compliance greets city water restrictions

"The municipal golf course actually uses effluent water from the waste water treatment plant." Quite right, Mr Carter. And it has been doing so for the past two years. Before that, only partial watering was from city sources. And improvements to the course are still being made. I talked to the "main man" at the course and the new "pond" is just about ready. It's really shaping up.  (Jun 25, 2009 | post #34)

what happen to BAMBO GARDEN

Actually Golden China was bought (again) and it's a little better. Was hesitant to try it but was surprised. It's not great, but it's OK when Bamboo is closed.  (May 27, 2009 | post #8)
