Atheists unfit for office?

All that needs be done is for the State Legislature to remove the offending lines. I agree that there should be no litmus test based on faith. What we DO need is a State Legislaure with balls and a governor who will uphold the US Constitution. But I suspect they are more concerned with other worries at this time, like the federal investigation of the leadership of the democrat party in NC and their inability to remove the federal prosecutor. Huh? NC Constitution stipulates that NO atheists can hold elected office!

I suppose we should not have bothered to remove bad laws regarding slavery, human beings as chattel, voting rights denied to some minorities and to women, bans on inter racial marrige, etc........ too much paper work, why bother clarifying the law and requiring law makers to do what they are paid to do? Let's not embarass these fine public servants by requiring them to take a public stance on a controversial issue. What idiocy to defend this dereliction of duty. God save us from those who hide behins excuses when the real issue is to prevent the public from finding out what legislatures actually think about issues. If you want the job of Legislature then you are rerquired to legislate, if you do not want your views known by the public then stay home and go into another line of work, the key words here are PUBLIC SERVANTS.
