It's the tallest order I've ever jumped into John! I do know what it takes to accomplish it, and I know there isn't any one person who can do it by himself. If God's not in it, it won't happen regardless of what anyone says. In my opinion, best thing we can do right now is pray hard, followed closely by thinking hard about major funding. Foundations, estate planning, things along those lines. Again, there is a lot of false information being spread on here. PLEASE, if you really don't know the answer, get the facts first. You can email questions or comments to 4squareinc@gmail.c om. (Sunday Nov 1 | post #99)
There are some things lacking when it comes to money management, no matter what government entity you're looking at, be it city, county, state, national. If you want proof, take a look at the county budget we published in Hawkins Today. Balanced. WITH the jail. With NO tax increase. Probably could have done the same thing or close with the city. I'm not necessarily in favor of the city being involved with Hale Springs Inn, for example. I'm not in favor of the city paying a large percentage of the budget of organizations that should be funded by other means. And yes, our taxes could be held dowsn. BUT... My city tax bill this year is $525 for my residence, which is up $87 over last year. That comes to $43.75 per month, or $10.10 per week. You mentioned garbage pickup. It's done EVERY week, ON TIME, and includes leaf, limb, and other refuse pickup. I know the county dumpsters are part of our county tax as well, but I don't have to take anything there. The city comes and picks it up. Okay, so I'll be conservative here. If I paid for that same pickup at $5 per week, that leaves $5.10 I'm paying for other services. Let's see...police and fire protection. I know the county deputies work hard, but they're stretched thin. How long would it take one to get to your house in an emergency? RPD is there within a couple minutes if necessary. I admire the volunteer fire departments that cover the county, but there again they have regular jobs or live some distance from their fire stations. Insurance. My homeowners insurance is cheaper because of that fire protection. Somehow I think to me it's worth $1.44 per day for the services we get. So last year it only cost $1.20. What else cost $1.20 last year that only cost $1.44 this year? I'd love for it to be less too, but I still say I'm getting my money's worth. (Saturday Oct 31 | post #95)

Very cool! (Friday Oct 30 | post #3)
I have never had any qualms about paying my city tax. I feel like I get services for the money - trash pickup, etc. Keep in mind, however, that city residents pay BOTH taxes. (Tuesday Oct 27 | post #60)
Both entities use the same appraisal and the same percentages. In other words, if you pay tax on $100,000 with one, it's $100,000 with the other. Identical bill formats, return addresses and tax rates about the only things that are different. (Tuesday Oct 27 | post #58)
Hawkins County 2009 Tax is $2.705, which is up .095 from 2008. Rogersville City 2009 Tax is $1.52, which is up .25 from 2008. As far as information on the Christian School, there is so much misinformation on this thread it would take days to sort it all out. If you have specific questions, go to the source. Email can be sent to 4squareinc(at)gmai l(dot)com, and your questions will be answered. 4Square is the nonprofit entity formed for development of the school. It does little good to ask that you please know the facts before posting here, but I sure wish people would heed that advice. (Tuesday Oct 27 | post #53)
You've got a DNS problem somewhere. You can start by opening a command window (START, RUN, CMD) and type in: ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /registerdns You'll probably have to reboot and try it. I'm also assuming that this comptuer has just been reformatted? You haven't added any software since SP1? (Saturday Oct 24 | post #11)
In Internet Explorer, under TOOLS, go to INTERNET OPTIONS, then the CONNECTIONS tab then LAN SETTINGS. Make sure you're not trying to use a Proxy Server. You can also go to the ADVANCED tab and try clicking reset Internet Explorer settings. From what I can get from what you've said, you're able to go to a website using the IP address and not the site name, is that correct? (Friday Oct 23 | post #9)
Sorry, I guess now I'm the one that's confused. Are you typing in a command window? What are you trying to type? If you want to bring it by, I'd be happy to give it a look at CompuPlus. Or, if you're closer to Church Hill I'd suggest you take it to American Computer Techs. Numbers are 9 2 1 8 0 0 7 and 3 5 7 9 8 0 0. (Oct 21, 2009 | post #6)

2 nd.. Annual Veterans Bake Sale
Just wanted to say that for a while there yesterday I wasn't sure Buffy was going to be able to be at the sale, and a little panic set in. Well she showed up bright and early this morning and all was well with the world! You're the driving force behind this event Buffy, and it wouldn't be the same without you. Thanks for your work, organization, and the occasional needed swat with the cane! (Oct 10, 2009 | post #55)
2 nd.. Annual Veterans Bake Sale
Buffy wanted me to let everyone know that the tables are set up and ready to go. If you're bringing something for the sale now would be a great time! Hope everyone will come by and at least say hello. Better yet, buy something! Buffy and the others have worked hard on this and the veterans deserve your support! (Oct 10, 2009 | post #29)
I have four pair available also. Two seats in R row 30, two in XX row 22, two in W row 39, and two immediately behind those in row 40. Call the store if you're interested. 9 2 1 8 0 0 7. Face value. (Sep 24, 2009 | post #2)
The proposal for 9 cents didn't pass the Budget Committee. At Monday's meeting, 11.5 cents will be back on the agenda for consideration. The only way to vote on something different is if a commissioner makes a motion to amend the amount, that motion has to pass, then the new amount can be voted on. (Sep 21, 2009 | post #59)
Ann and I are praying for quick and complete healing for both of you! (Aug 30, 2009 | post #2)
