Any side effects while on Chantix?

Hey All, I havent been keepings up with the site much lately, but Just wanted to tell a short story. I recently quit with Chantix, and am about a week shy of 5 months. I was only on chantix for about a month, the side effects were just to much for me, I was getting bad headaches, couldnt sleep and had terrilble back and jaw pain. My mom also attempted to use chantix and had a very large melt down due to the drug. She thinks that she is going to try again using a much smaller dose. Just something to keep in mind, talk to your Dr often about dosing and adjusting to make things right for you! YOU CAN DO IT!  (Nov 16, 2007 | post #751)

CHANTIX - AUGUST 2007 PART 2

Well, When I first started the chantix things were fine, a bit of nausea here and there, but nothing even close to bad. After about a month on the drug I started expericnece really bad back pain, clenching my jaw, and headaches. I was advised by my DR to just completly stop the meds without a wean, which I did. I did not have any problems coming off Chantix, But I was only on .5mg per day. I have been off chantix now for 22 days, and Im starting to feel a bit better. My back still has bad days, and Im still clenching my jaw, BUT HEY, IM NOT SMOKING!!!! so things are good!  (Aug 22, 2007 | post #1628)

Yes, I had very bad intense headaches. I went to my Dr and I have been quit for about 40ish days and she recommened that I stop the chantix. I wouldnt not recommened anybody stopping without talking to there Dr frist. But, for the most part the headaches have gone away, but Im still clenching my jaw, and I have some pretty bad back pain. I am 52 days quit, and going strong. Good Luck!  (Aug 13, 2007 | post #2998)

PS I did not wean off the chantix. I just quit cold turkey per request of my DR. I was only .5mg per day so that may be why I didnt need to wean.  (Aug 11, 2007 | post #2765)

Hey Trish, Im sorry that dinner didnt agree with you....I get that also from returants. I found that rolaids or tums help to settle the belly a bit. And brushing my teeth helps also. I hope you feel better soon!  (Aug 11, 2007 | post #2759)
