Poland and the Chezc Republic were part of the once Soviet Union, if the Europeans didn't want Missiles who is America to just impose their will on Europe and insist on installing a Missile Base." It's odd you would see it that way. Poland did want the missle shield. Even though Poland used to be under the Soviet boot they think of themselves as a free country today. So it really is not up to the Russians to dictate what goes on in Poland. But after Obama unilaterally pulled the missle defense out of Poland the Russians failed to put pressure on Iran. So everyone is laughing at Obama for being such a sucker. (Yesterday | post #1863)

The Bush economy from 2002 to 2007 was pretty good. There was a natural downturn of the business cycle just before Bush left office but that was not his fault. The same would have happened if Gore or Kerry had been in office. The Bush tax cuts worked to stimulate the economy and Treasury took in more money than it did before the tax cuts. Over spending was and remains the problem. No matter how much money the government has it wants more. (Yesterday | post #24149)

China will have a pool of cheap labor to draw from for many years. Only 300 million of the 1.2 billion are even involved in the new China that is producing all that stuff. I'm sorry to say you are incorrect. First, I never said one single word about Medicare and Medicaid paying anything in full. " I didn't mean to imply that you did say that. I was just adding my two cents to what you wrote. My impression is that different insurers pay different rates for the same services. Maybe we could say that the government gets a discount while private insurance companies pay full price. And the full price includes a little extra to cover what Medicare doesn't pay. The accountants can make the numbers do or say whatever they want them too and I still believe that government involvemnet in healthcare is pushing prices up for private health insurance. But I'll keep studying the issue to see if I'm wrong. (Yesterday | post #68501)

The "engineers " at GM were producing the cars that were selling?????" GM had already turned the corner on design and quality. GM got in trouble for not managing the cash on hand and so was not able to weather the storm created by the credit crunch. So what did Obama in all his wisdom do? Obama has already told us that we won't be allowed to set the thermostat anywhere we choose. He considers that unfair to the rest of the world. Your explaination that homeowners should pay different rates during the day and night is reasonable. But you only need a slightly smarter meter to record electricity use by night or by day. But slightly smarter meters outside the home wouldn't tell Obama if we were using the electricty for cooking or heating or watching TV. That's what the smart thermostat is for. The smart thermostats he wants to install are snoops meant to inform the central government who is keeping their homes cooler or warmer than the environmentalists allow. (Yesterday | post #3207)

You just said Boing has plants world wide. Doesn't that include China? If so you're not saying that the Chinese Boings are junk are you? The Chinese have made me a believer. They are where America was around 1900. At that time the technology leaders were in Europe but the US was mastering the art of mass production. The sons of illiterate factory workers grew up to be engineers or highly skilled technicians. And their sons and grandsons became the scientists who have lead the world in so many fields for 50 years. China is going through that same progression now. (Yesterday | post #24126)

High speed rail is not something that is going to be a reality for many years and most of the money will go to foreign companies that we buy the trains from. It is only a matter of time before India or China begins competing with the United States for the airliner market too. And when they do their aircraft will be much less costly than a Boeing. It think we need to open up all federal lands to oil drilling and embark on a major national effort to build nuclear power plants. That will create jobs and stimulate the economy. Also we need to begin adding tariffs onto imported products as a way to protect American jobs. There was a report last week that Senator Chuck Schumer is complaining about the new windmills going up in the new wind farms are using Chinese turbines and blades. That's insane. What is manditory vocational training? Do you mean forcing Americans to attend classes whether they want to or not? (Monday | post #24116)

I hope you're right. But unfortunately the Constitution means whatever 5 unelected judges for life on the Supreme Court say it means. And they are entirely unpredictable. The lying lib polls can hide Obama's slipping poll numbers for a while by polling more Democrats than Republicans or independents, but the only poll that matters is the one conducted on election day. Last Tuesday we got evidence that Obama is becoming ever more isolated from the American people. And we'll probably get more proof in 2010 if he doesn't back off his far left agenda.
