Is Bucky capable ??????

Yes, the new elected constable is doing what he is supposed to do. He is not taking it upon himself to bother residents and tourists with a power kick. Business has never been better. Bless the voters and bless the new sensible law enforcement in Island Pond. Mabe  (Friday Jul 18 | post #193)

Valentines

There were people in there working today again. Sold, I don't know but the signs were down? Mabe  (Jun 21, 2008 | post #496)

Offbeat

What happened to My Post ???

Does your husband take medicine that might affect his ability to maintain and erection? Does he drink or use other recreational drugs? This can effect his ability to get an erection and maintain an erection. Just some thoughts to toss out. Mabe  (Jun 16, 2008 | post #22)

Valentines

I noticed there was what appeared to be workmen there tonight. Maybe they are doing some kind of work that will help with the sale. Mabe  (May 15, 2008 | post #495)

Valentines

Has Valentine's been sold? I noticed some trucks backed up there, I think it was Tuesday evening. They appeared to be doing some type of work in there? Mabe  (May 15, 2008 | post #492)

Is Bucky capable ??????

Perhaps, in taking the first exam, he recognized areas that he needed more comprehensive study in. It just may be he needs time to study a bit. He may very well register to take the test again but remember that he does not have to do that if he just wants to be the constable as the position is actually described. Island Pond is now a pleasant place to shop in and I very much am pleased that Ted is no longer pestering nice folks who are just going about their business. Mabe  (May 3, 2008 | post #144)

Orleans Sheriff's Dept: Miller is Not with Use

I am sure there will be a handful of people who will miss him but I haven't actually heard anyone say they would. I have only heard people say they are glad he is no longer the constable. Mabe  (Apr 28, 2008 | post #4)

Orleans Sheriff's Dept: Miller is Not with Use

He was on the "roster" according to the officials at the sheriff's office. Being on the roster does not make a person active in the department. It just makes them available should the need arise. The need never arose. Why do you suppose that was? Mabe  (Apr 28, 2008 | post #3)

Ted E Miller 25 years of great service

Ponder, I have no idea why you think I am a Teddy hater? I simply have stated the obvious in any posts I have made on this topic. Hate is a strong word. I don't think that Teddy was a proper model for law enforcement or a good leader in the community but that does not mean I hate him. I simply think he was not the right or best man for the position of constable. I still think he was the wrong person for that job and obviously the marjority of those who voted also thought the same thing because he is no longer constable. Mabe  (Apr 28, 2008 | post #8)

Why should Bucky resign? He is a constable and I imagine he will perform the duties of constable just fine. Mabe  (Apr 28, 2008 | post #138)

Ted E Miller 25 years of great service

I have no idea when Ted received training but he certainly had no skills in contemporary law enforcement. When he was told by the taxpayers that his skills were lacking and that he was not treating the public in a manner that was acceptable by the standards of today, he ignored their wishes. He ignored their wishes to the point they tossed him from his elected position. I would say that whatever training he had must have been many many years ago because his skillset certainly did not seem to match those of his peers in contemporary law enforcement. If he had recent training there must have been some issue with the ability to absorb the new skillsets that apply to the standards of today. The townfolks were not ungrateful and frankly since they paid his salary all they really had to be was responsible employers. And they were. They paid his salary and kept up their end of the bargain. When they tried to impress on him that they had concerns about his job performance he ignored his employers and chose to continue writing and adding to his own job description without the approval of those who paid his salary. So, as employer and employee relationships sometimes do, this relationship broke down and the employee's services were simply no longer needed. Mabe  (Apr 27, 2008 | post #4)

MIKES MARKET

Don't misunderstand, sometimes it is nice to ride to Derby and check out the selection at Price Chopper, but for intimate personalized service, I prefer Ted's Market. I also like to support local businesses.  (Apr 27, 2008 | post #17)

What I do see in Island Pond is the children. They are skate boarding and walking and playing ball and generally being children. How wonderful. When Ted was there the children stayed away from the main streets. I personally am glad to see the children being children again. The word is getting out that Ted is gone. You will see the tourists coming back and spending money and generally enjoying the town and its natural resources. I am sure that if you ask, local businesses will tell you they have already seen an increase in business. I agree with the poster who said that we should all move on. Ted was not re-elected and he was not re-elected because his vision for law enforcement was hurting the town. He is gone; this is good and now lets watch the community grow and prosper again. MIKES MARKET

I think Ted's is the perfect size Market. It is a cozy shopping experience. I like the way he greets his customers and I like the personalized service. He knows his customer's names and he knows how I like my meet cut. He pays attention. How many brands do you need for kripe's sake? Ted's has good quality products and enough of a selection to please me. Mabe  (Apr 25, 2008 | post #15)

Wasilla, AK

Hibbard Family

I am working on a family history. Al Hibbard and his wife Connie lived in Wasilla for a number of years. Al lived in Alaska from the late 1940's until his death. He moved there from Maine and came back to Maine only twice after he left for Alaska. I am wondering if there are any Wasilla residents who might be able to share some information about them?
