Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
18:40. That the rush to pass ratio of that game. I guess Arians went out and figured Ben could wizz it around and dominate against a good Bengals defense. Whoa...those words are hard to say together. 18:40. For those you that need help, that means we ran the ball about 31% of our snaps against the Bungles defense. *Shake head* (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #4410)
Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
Bob, if you don't watch this next game...well, against the Chiefs, I don't think it will matter. But you better watch the game just in case! (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #4408)

Oh, I know. I'm not blaming Mendenhall for that stat. Every single time we get into the redzone, we run that bone headed 2/3 TE set and run for -2, then +2, then pass, then kick the field goal. Its mind boggling. And frustrating as hell. Because if we on TV know what's gonna be coming, you can damn sure know that the opposing defensive coordinator does. (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #4407)
pick the final score of the steelers & bungles
Yep, I was a little off. Oh well, hindsight 20/20. Ben looked sloppy as hell and Reed...well, I think Reed took Ben out for a night on the town Saturday night. Then they boozed it up till 5am Sunday morning, resulting the in monstrocity that was that football game. We get swept by the Bungles? ABOMINATION. (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #11)
Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
Mendenhall’s yards per rush by field position: Own 1-20 yard line = 8.0 yards per rush. Own 21-50 yard line = 5.2 yards per rush. Opposition’s 49-20 = 7.3 yards per rush. Red Zone = 1.9 yards per rush. oh...my...god... (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #4397)
pick the final score of the steelers & bungles
Hero: Ben (as always). 320 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT Goat: Defense. Again, allows Palmer to put up points Outcome: Steeler 24, Bungles 17 (Sunday Nov 15 | post #8)
Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
No one should deny the fact that Sweed has breakaway speed and has no problem separating from NFL quality cornerbacks. His problem is solely rested on mentality and focus. Its tough to come into the NFL for a good team, play poorly, and have the fan-base pretty much hate you for dropping passes. We need to give him time. If we don't...we risk the problem of him going to a different team, getting his head right, and make us regret releasing him (ala Braylon Edwards w/ the Jets). But you're right. We have the weapons. We have the QB. Its our time than it ever has been. Here we go Steelers, here we go!! (Saturday Nov 14 | post #4381)

Nervs still gettin to ya. We'll need all of them for the next 2 weeks. (Wednesday Nov 11 | post #4364)
Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
Interesting stat that explains a lot: The Browns rushing TD leader has a total of 2 touchdowns all year long. And he's a quarterback: Derek Anderson. (Friday Nov 6 | post #4348)
Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
Ladies...I'll be going to the Broncos game on Monday night. And I can't wait to get off that plane and hit up a bar and tell those fuccing Broncos how they're gonna lose. I also know they're the worst sportsmanship fans in the entire league. And i'm gonna give them back what they try to give me, when we win. (Thursday Nov 5 | post #4339)
NT, definitely. This draft is probably not as realistic as it could be. The fact of the matter is, we'll have a slew of offensive linemen to resign at the end of the year if a CBA is reached. We simply have to spend a good portion of the draft on linemen. I would make it an absolute necessity to pickup Ricardo McClain in the first tho. Move up some spots to grab him if necessary. We're not as stout against the run as we use to be, even with Aaron Smith in the lineup. (Monday Nov 2 | post #3)
Assuming we get comp picks for the free agents that left and their current pay...we should MAYBE get a 4th, definitely a 5th, and a possible 6th, but lets just assume we get another 7th after last years compensatory debacle. Here's who I'd like: 1. Rolando McClain - MLB - 6-4,248 - Alabama Incredibly disruptive defender. Is always making plays. He has the extreme athleticism that rivals Timmons, but with better instincts. Couple him with Timmons, and you've got the most diverse and deadly set of linebackers the NFL has ever seen. 2. Jared Odrick - DT - 6-5,291 - Penn St. Odrick has dominated the point of attack, even while constantly double teamed, and could push for a starting job in his first year. 3. Mike Johnson - G - 6-6,298 - Alabama This is the kinda linemen I like. Not only is he big and nasty, but he's a smart lineman that knows when to hold the point, and when to push his assignment back into the secondary. 4a. Nate Allen - FS - 6-2,200 - S. Florida I've always liked watching Nate Allen. He's not the fastest, but he's soo damn physical he remind me of a stockier Ryan Clark...with just as much speed. 4b. Perrish Cox - CB - 6-1,185 - Oklahoma St Very impressed with this guy. He's a ballhawk. But he's surprised me how much more physical he is this year. Very impressed. 5a. Mikell Simpson - RB - 6-1,200 - Virginia Runs a 4.4 40 at 6-1, 200 lbs. He could be that change of speed back that Willie can't be due to injury. I love Willie, but he's clearly lost a step. 5b. Luthur Brown - OLB - 6-3,235 - USC Clearly a best player available pick here. He gets dwarfed by the other defensive talent at USC, but he is essential to their gameplan. He'll provide depth and possibly (one day), challenge for a starting role. 6. Barry Church - SS - 6-2,219 - Toledo I LOVE this guy. As close as a man-crush as I'll ever have. He's not the fastest, most athletic guy out there. But he will let the hammer down and punish guys who catch over the middle. 7a. Lorenzo Washington - DT - 6-4,285 - Alabama Possible 3-4 defensive end prospect. The best I've seen so far among those in draftable position here. A project...but worth the risk. 7b. Aaron Pettrey - K - 6-2,199 - Ohio State Hey...I love Skippy. Not only is he clutch in big games, but his off-the-field antics entertain the hell outta me. However, it could be argued that Reed lost both of our losses for us this year. I don't believe that's true. But Tomlin and Colbert might want to make sure he has some competition. And this kicker is the best in the draft. (Saturday Oct 31 | post #1)
Tomlin knows what the Steelers need
I dunno, guys. Hoke playing DE scares the hell outta me. Don't think he's anywhere near athletic for the position. We'd have to send an OLB edge rushing every single time in order to prevent them from running screens and sweeps to that side of the field. Its interesting, sure. We'd definitely stop the run with Ham and Hoke on the field...and if that were the only aspect of an offense, it might actually work. (Oct 17, 2009 | post #4232)
