Chryslers restructuring to be completed by june.
Its not all that hard when the buyer wants to control 51% of said company as Fiat plans. It can't until AFTER the tax payers have been paid back, so it'll be a few years down the road for sure. (May 19, 2009 | post #15)

Toyota builds super dependable appliances. Hardly ever need to fix them, but about as exciting as driving a toaster. (May 17, 2009 | post #65)
Chrysler aims to close 789 dealerships
Its not a Government demand what ever gave you that idea? It is part of the plan to restructure Chrysler, it was there (to lesser extent) before C11 and it wouldn't change with Fiat owning Chrysler. Why is it so hard for people on here to grasp the fact that sales spread way too thin among the dealers is not good for Chrysler or the dealers themselves. They MUST compete with Toyota/Honda to survive and this is an area where they need improvement.(riche r healthier, with nicer showrooms & better service) (May 17, 2009 | post #106)
Fu#K Chrysler my next car will be a Honda
Wrong it will be paying back the American and Canadian tax payers. When that is done Fiat will likely own Chrysler. Of course Fiat/Chrysler will still have a huge tech centre/headquarters in Auburn Hills, full of engineers ...etc that is all at home in Japan for Honda. (May 16, 2009 | post #22)

Oh sure a better deal, close 25% of the dealers. That is so much worse than closeing 25% of the plants. If you don't plan to build as many cars then you don't plan to sell as many either = less dealers required for your new reduced market share. Its all pretty simple math isn't it? "If contracts mean nothing anymore a lot of innocent people are going to suffer beyond Wall St and Washington DC." What about contracts that promise a guy that spent 40yrs working on the line that he WOULD have a decent pension when he retired. Oh your 70yrs old and your savings were modest, oh well sorry about your luck, theres always food stamps...etc. (May 16, 2009 | post #88)
