Elections under Coup Deepen Honduran Crisis
Anthony, first of all you are implying that we are racist because we have a black president that just shows how weak and programed your mind is to communism. I going call your bluff because you think we don't remember Guatemala has gone through years of civil war and bloodshed only for democracy to prevail in your country. I think your opinion comes from being "sore commie loser"! (Tuesday Nov 24 | post #27)
Elections under Coup Deepen Honduran Crisis
Steve, The Honduran people do believe in the rule of law. Zelaya did break the law of the constitution by calling a referendum illegally. Yes there where mistakes made by removing him from the country: However there are two reasons 1. there are no laws for impeachment in the Honduran Constitution so that was not a option. 2. Zelaya was inciting his followers to protest as he still is doing today. The logical choice was to remove him for his and everybody's sake. Many of the crimes he is now facing came to light after he was removed. He had cash in his desk, his personnel where removing large sum of cash and so on. He is a crook. The only hurdle for his fair trial is the Brazilian Embassy (Monday Nov 23 | post #16)

Johnny, I wonder about freedom of speech. Of course here in the US we have it. So freedom of press? man it just think it comes down to opinion. Let me explain; I think reporters combine their own personal beliefs into their stories. If you pour enough heart into a story any editor will buy it and approve it to press. Does this just come down to the fight of the right vs left or right or wrong? Maybe so. There some stories that I have fallen for because they closely follow my beliefs so I believe them to be true. I am with you if you read something in the press it just comes down to the opinion of the author. whether you believe it or not it is up to the individual person. (Saturday Nov 21 | post #12)

If it came to it. I put my money on Columbia. Venezuela would get "smoked" in a war with Columbia..... Chavez is all talk! The last time he picked a fight with the Columbians they watched his tanks break down on the way to the border. Chavez army is not a big as it seems and his military is not a seasoned as Columbia's military. (Friday Nov 20 | post #5)

I don't feel that Zelaya will ever admit to anything. Even if he did he would find a way to blame it on someone else. I understand your point about unfair trials from his peers, I did not think to see it that way. I feel that Zelaya has caused much more damage to Honduras to even allow the option of admitting to some things and being forgiven for others. To get house arrest and repay money stolen from it's citizens would only send a message to future crooked politicians and wanna-be-dictators that they would get a light sentence and make it worth the risk. I hope Honduras sends a message clearly that it will not be tolerated. If I was in charge of Honduras I would ask for a tribunal in the Haque. Ask Brazil to present Zelaya so they can get out from under Zelaya with some dignity and resume ties with Honduras. Then present the charges against Zelaya by the Honduran people in a the tribunal. I feel that Honduras has a strong case against Zelaya. Maybe then he will get a fair trial. (Friday Nov 20 | post #8)

Why does Zelaya have to get amnesty? If he is guilty of crimes why does he not have to be prosecuted. Have we forgot that he clearly incited people to rush the airport so he could land that lead to the death of a young protester. He has blood on his hands now. I could go on with more but I want people to know that sitting in Venezuela somewhere without answering to his crimes infuriates me. He should be made an example of what can happen to other wanna-be dictators of central and south America that choose to hang on to power. I hope they make him shave that stupid mustache off as on of his punishments. (Friday Nov 20 | post #6)
Elections under Coup Deepen Honduran Crisis
I beg to differ that things are going to get worse with the election. The Honduran people are so ready for a change with the elections, They a tired of Mel,gangs, crime, narcos and murders stemming from Mel's coup attempt. That's right I did say it "Mel's Coup attempt" He did begin it after all by instructing the military to enforce his referendum but in the end they refused. This article just keeps harping on a military coup but the reality of things are that the Military is not in charge and there is no General making the daily calls in Honduras. In fact they are currently making sure there will be peaceful elections for all it citizens. I noticed this article has no author? Does the author not want to claim his identity for a reason? well said Canuk! Mel is crying right now why the USA is interfering with Honduras so why does Brazil get to interfere by harboring him in the embassy. That just goes to show that Mel has flip-flopped so much that people are dizzy just trying to listen to him. He should have stayed out of Honduras. (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #3)
