I cut out all the stuff we agree on. No need to go over that. . Medicare going bankrupt; that's what I fear from a public option. If it's just sitting there all flush with cash, don't you think it too will be raided? . You didn't mention what you think of a separate tax, like SS, to pay for this public option. No strings, not mandatory, no National ID. A simple option. That is a good starting point for negotiations with us on the (reasonable) right. . I don't understand how you can say if there is no public option there is no reform though. It doesn't make sense to me. Demanding a public option or nothing? Sounds childish to me Jane. . But aside from that. Would you guys compromise on the mandatory part? Perhaps a public option that had a separate tax? You would only have to pay in if you took the public option. No tax on the people that buy private insurance. No national healthcare ID. Could the left get behind that? . I would like to add that one of our greatest cost issues is primary care. Not enough Doctors go into primary care because it doesn't pay as well. Perhaps we could offer to pay off the student loans of young doctors that become primary care physicians for 15 years. Just a thought. (Aug 30, 2009 | post #17)
