Remove your prejudice. I qualified with a difference between self gain and good for the country. I asid maybe on Carter and you use a personal retort. I said JFK only had 2 1/2 years and although Bay of Pigs was a total CF, he made that decision on what he thought was best for the country. FDR most assuradly lied and fibbed again best for the country. I dont think Bush had a thimble full of morality or best intentions for the country. His interests are personal wealth and family, global positioning. btw- the list that contained way more than one or the three you retorted to were off the top of the head. Given time for research I believe that most of our Presidents had good intentions for the whole has compared to personal advantage outweighing that good. That does not mean they did not reap personal advantage, that means their prorities were aligned.  (5 hrs ago | post #386)

Ron Paul on the Verge of Going Third Party?

You need to look around a bit. There are not many here that support free trade agreements. At most some will tolerate, but I would like to see them abolished. We consume the most in the world, we should be using that to our advantage.  (6 hrs ago | post #5572)

That would solve a majority of the problems until the "local" is a hood with no one that cares. Is it right to abondon all of those possibilities?  (6 hrs ago | post #5571)

We have been trying to implement this simple but workable approach for ten freakin years. No one on either side understands the benefit of the symbiotic set up! Frustrating as hell.  (6 hrs ago | post #5570)

Just a thought.... First critiques of the on-line involvement will be the "mob rule" and coercion arguments. So, allow votes on all matters to be calculated and recorded but have a sliding scale as to the weight of the "masses votes". So if the naming of a bridge that will have little consequence comes up - allow all weight of the masses to count. If we are deciding who gets the FED chair appointment maybe use the "Masses vote" as a poll or guide and weight it at 10% or less.  (6 hrs ago | post #5569)

Its worse today - still going to work - the east coast beach is going to get it worse from the reverse of the bands and the streangthening. All in all just a summer storm with some minor wind damage.  (6 hrs ago | post #5567)

This is the second or third time you bring up teachers. You do realize that your stance of education begins at home is welcomed by every teacher - even the screaming liberals. The problem is that it does not and many times can not begin at home for huge percentages of the population. Just my fyi.  (6 hrs ago | post #5566)

Staying on the porch? Not with you on that. Caution is great and should be utilized, but being at the bottom, now and the near future are my best opportunities. Finding venues? Still looking to come to the East Coast? You need research? send specifics to lorax2010@gmail.co m. I wont kiss any toes, but I will be an opinionated coconspirator ;)  (7 hrs ago | post #557)

Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Fillmore, Garfield (only had 5 months), Cleveland, FDR, JFK (2 1/2 years), and maybe Carter. If you mean not being obviously selfish and self serving instead of having the best interests of the country and listening to the people.  (7 hrs ago | post #382)
