Yes, unfortunately, that was our Lucifer's Hammer. Topix won't be near as interesting without him. He will indeed be missed. (Nov 20, 2009 | post #2)
Of course - we all make typos. It was just funny, considering the words that were spelled right. No offense meant :) (Oct 4, 2009 | post #47)

If others are offended, that's between them and the person doing the "offending ". I can see how some people on here have a problem with each other - then again, they're all making the choice to come on here or not. Want to enlighten me as to what I, personally, should be offended by? (Sep 28, 2009 | post #232)

I'd hate to see the Bisbee Topix go back to what it was, which was just a bunch of longwinded rants from "Mother B" and "Howard" against the gay population. And the other forums are so political and Jeff-Harris oriented that they're dull. Like "Goat Tell", I just find these current posts amusing - I don't have the negative history with any of you that it takes to find any of it really offensive. If any of those three come back, I wouldn't mind seeing Jack on here - at least he always provides an opposite viewpoint to keep the argument going. (I thoroughly expect someone to judge me with a "Nuts" now - someone's been handing out so many peanuts it looks like the floor of Texas Roadhouse in here...) (Sep 28, 2009 | post #229)

The recyclable metal from the cans alone could probably pay for the house. Good luck - it sounds like a big job! (Sep 28, 2009 | post #224)

By the way, I'm going back to my registered name here - thought I'd do the Roast Goat/Broiled Goat thing as a shot at a new "Goat Name", but someone's already hijacked it on another thread. Beware of imitators. Now I'm hungry for cabrito with peppers and mushrooms..Thanks. (Sep 27, 2009 | post #222)
That last might be debatable - you can probably still flavor your own...lol Obama himself smokes menthols - no mention of menthol being banned - I would think that would be considered a flavoring, too. Hmm. I always liked the smell of clove cigarettes and vanilla pipe tobacco, at least much more than plain smoke. I don't really think that flavored tobaccos were such a big factor in getting "young people" to start smoking. If anything, those who like Djarums will just make their own version with clove oil, which is pretty corrosive and more risky. I'm not a smoker myself, but I think this ban is odd and unnecessary. Does this mean there actually IS an "end" in sight? (Sep 25, 2009 | post #188)
Could be - better stock up. You might be able to get a good price for them later on the Black Market. (Sep 25, 2009 | post #7)
For those who haven't seen the whole story - Obama signed a bill banning any flavorings that make tobacco taste good, including cloves. That's why I'm saying alcohol mixers are probably the next to go... (Sep 24, 2009 | post #5)
Yeah, next thing you know, they'll be banning margarita mix because it makes alcohol taste better... (Sep 24, 2009 | post #2)
It's not terribly expensive, but that of course depends on what area you compare it to. Yes to the other two questions - Houses are available from about $150 K to $250 K, and there is a lot of new construction still going on. The houses are Southwest style, many brick ranch homes, and new "California " style developments. Lower priced homes are also available in nearby surrounding communities. As far as other expenses, it is moderate in price, and gas runs about 2.59. For short term stays, there are a lot of "TDY" apartments available because of Fort Huachuca - Google "TDY housing Sierra Vista" for an idea. (Sep 24, 2009 | post #4)
Okay - how does somebody spell all of those words right except wits? (Sep 24, 2009 | post #14)
Sierra Vista, on the good side, has a solid economy, especially if you work in the computer / military/ contractor fields. The weather is beautiful (a little hot now) and you can reach mountains with a short drive. A lot of wide open high desert land. Shopping and dining are mostly the big-box/chain type businesses, although there are a few nice locally owned places, but Bisbee and Tombstone are very close for a change of pace. The population is a mixture of military, retirees, and born-and-raised Sierra Vistans. AS far as social life there isn't much in the way of art galleries, coffeehouses, or theaters...guess that just depends on what you like to do for fun. Most of the social activities seem to revolve around either church or bars, so if you like either of those, there's plenty of choice. Hope that helps - can you be more specific as far as what you want to know? (Sep 23, 2009 | post #2)
