Ok you are still fairly new in God, like I mentioned I listen to secular music now, I don't think God has a problem per se, unless you are listening to the songs that promote fornication, adultery, drugs etc. I like to listen to christian music that feeds my soul, but I also like Queen, Beatles,Elvis etc. We all mature at differents times in the Lord, don't think so hard about it, when and if you decide to not want to listen to secular music that may come as you "grow". Likewise I have family members who don't listen to secular music at all as in period, nor watch or go to movies, it depends on your own personal dedication, God works with us on a individual level. I grew up in a christian home, so Gospel and contemporary christian music was all we could listen to, now we are talking late 70's and 80's, truthfully I miss that music, i'm not to crazy about todays contemporary christian b/c it sounds too much like todays alternative music (which I don't care for either) I don't know how old you are, I can throw some ideas out there for you, but it's all about your personal taste. Now I do listen to secular music now, and thankfully I have tapes and is slowly building a cd collection of the christian music I listened to 20+ yrs ago. Well I do feel for the good black men who must carry the stereotype, I know good black men starting with my brother and other men in my family who are doing right by their wives and children. My advice for black men would be to mentor other young black men, stay apart of their children's lives, stop blaming the white man, so having excuses of why they're not more advanced in life etc and STOP giving ammo to the naysayers ie STOP proving ppl right about the stereotypes.
