HB 1804 Decision Brings On Mixed Feelings

So basically, there is a 10 year penalty for the crime of entering the country illegally. You said it yourself. They cannot re-enter this country for 10 years. If that is the case, how can it be a misdemeanor? Misdemeanors are defined as one year or less in a City of County jail. Anything over is a felony and is served in a prison. Yes it may be named as a misdemeanor but since the individual cannot return to our country for 10 years, and the sentence is to remove them from the country, I believe that is the same as a punishment. It just amazes me that you are standing up for individuals who have broken the law and that does not concern you! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #153)

HB 1804 Decision Brings On Mixed Feelings

Oh, I am sorry, I did not know that breaking a FEDERAL OFFENSE was so meanial. I was wondering, where do you serve fime for federal offenses? Would that be in the City jail of the town they reside in? By the way, other than deportation, what is the punishment for illegally entering this country and how long is that punishment? Since you are so wise to this issue, also answer, if one is deported for coming here illegally, are they ever allowed to return legally? Lets just see how smart you really are. (I would also like references with your answers that way i can see where you get YOUR information from.)  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #140)

Let me guess, you are one of those people that have sympathy for rapests and murders also. Crossing the border into this country illegall is a FEDERAL OFFENSE, just a serious as any FELONY....so why should any of us be so lienent on them and why should they gain advantages just because of their illegal actions?  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #131)

I think you are the ignorant one. By your theory, any US Citizen that gives birth to a child in another country, that child is NOT a US Citizen. YOU are completely wrong. If you are born to US Citizens then you are a us citizen. In turn about fair play, if you are born to NON US CITIZENS then you should likely be a NON US CITIZEN.  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #128)

I totally agree with you. If your parents are not citizens of the USA then the children should not be either. I would not think that the child of military personnel born on foreign land would be a citizen of the nation in which they were born. They would be USA citizens because their parents are.  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #124)

Man Takes A Stand For His Neighborhood

Maybe you should get your facts straight before you "go shooting off your pistolas". Mr. Gumm pleaded guilty to the charge. Had he retained his innocent plea, I am sure that he would have been found innocent! I am offended that he did accept a plea and plead guilty. It is sad for citizens when they have to fear for their actions in protecting themselves.  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #37)

School Bus Driver Arrested On Rape Allegation

This is ridiculous! This girl would have been of legal age had he not been a school employee. She is just as guilty as he is. I wonder if this is a new avenue for schools to bail on having to take the heat for not performing background checks on their employees? (By hiring from a private contractor? Seems fishy to me!)  (Jun 2, 2008 | post #4)

Kenneth Gumm Pleads Guilty

I am very knowledgeable of our court system. I have been in the legal field for over 7 years. That is why I can state so adamantly that I WOULD NEVER PLEAD GUILTY TO SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT GUILTY OF DOING! I do not care how much pressure I am under, giving up my freedom and going to jail is not worth being a scared. How could anyone live with themselves if they go in front of the whole word and plead GUILTY (not nolo contendere) to a charge they are innocent of?  (Jun 2, 2008 | post #50)

FYI.... I am a proud conceal and carry permit holder myself and I would NEVER plead guilty to something that I did not do or that I was NOT GUILTY of!  (May 29, 2008 | post #5)

Kenneth Gumm Pleads Guilty

You can use it to protect yourself, but if you do, why in the world would you plead guilty to something you honestly did not think you did? That is what has me in this case. If he was ONLY defending himself and does not believe the he commited a crime, why in the world is he PLEADING GUILTY?????????? Makes no sense to me!  (May 29, 2008 | post #4)
