Mathews may revive Congress bid
Change is definitely the word! Congress has the LOWEST approval ratings since polls were started! Sacramento is not far behind, yet the lemmings (voters) will re elect the same incumbents who got us into the mess in the first place! The best solution to congress and our legislature is to VOTE out ALL incumbents no matter what party! We need NEW faces and different ideas in elected officials! The tired old same ones LIKE Jenny Oropeza etc are NOT getting the job done! We need change and replacements in November! And only LEGAL registered voters can do this! And we all know if things can be snafued the city and county of LA will do a fine job. I also know that any ballot problems will always be the fault of conservatives and they will be blamed. When will we have to show some picture ID to vote? Voter fraud is VERY likely in the November election because the ultra libs want to have an inexperienced air head elected in the worst way, why? Their pay and pension is FAR above adequate. Plus their unions are FAR above what is needed. They are the most hard left liberal in the nation and protect whom? The bloated pension fiascos for city and county workers of most counties in the state are JUST now starting to surface. Oh get off the cross for once and STOP blaming Bush for EVERY trouble that comes down the way! You people have had a TOTAL lib congress for two years and what is the result? More gridlock and chaos! One item NEVER mentioned is about the already leased oil acreage. It is not being used because there seems to be NO OIL in that acreage or you would assume they would be drilling there already. But of course it is a conspiracy by the government to raise oil prices to enslave us all, and only blame shifting, shouting, screaming, and character assassination will solve it! Gimme a break! It took years and many DIFFERENT administrations (lib and conservative) to get us into this mess and it will take a mentality shift in congress and the nation to get us out! We are a nation of wasters! We use 25 percent of the worlds oil but have around 2 percent of the population. This must tell ya something! (Friday Jul 18 | post #3)
Don't expect new drilling off the coast anytime soon
Right now there is no concentrated effort underway to reduce our hostage like dependence on foreign oil, either government sponsored or private enterprise. Continuing to stick our heads in the sand and ignore the problem will not solve it. And right or left wing partisan shouting, screaming, and blame shifting won't either. So all of us need to get off the cross and put our heads under the hood and see what is wrong with the engine! That giant **** sound is our MONEY going elsewhere when it should be staying here. The fix needs to be on multiple fronts and one needs to be conservation, THAT is a no brainer! And government doesn't need to be involved in it either! Use your cars less, plan your daily trips or eliminate them altogether, STOP lead footing the gas pedal, keep your cars tuned up PROPERLY, use public transportation, car pool, etc. This is fairly basic stuff. Until four and a half dollar gas affected the average person's wallet the foreign oil problem was always somebody else's dilemma not mine- well the chickens have come back to roost and it now IS YOUR/OUR problem. As T Boone Pickens says, it is our problem and WE can solve it. We need leaders now more than ever and we are NOT getting any ON both sides of the political aisle. I dunno maybe it will be private enterprise that will solve it-who knows. But the 'sky if falling' chicken little types are not needed now. (Thursday Jul 17 | post #5)

It has nothing to do with race, it has to do with RESPONSIBILITY and ACCOUNTABILITY. Those two words seem to be severely lacking in some circles of society. King Harbor hospital is a prime example of what we will see if the lib demo-creeps become the new dictatorship in the state and nation. Many FAILED experiments of PC ultra lib management, good ole boy nepotism, incompetent friends and family on taxpayer payrolls, and INCREDIBLE wasting of scarce money, with little or no accounting for where it is going!
