Lexington, NC

We need to work,where are the new job opportunities we were promised .

Good questions, as I travel the southeast thru many small towns. We are in better shape than alot of folks. I know that is not comfort for someone who is not working. Sadly Lexington and Davidson County did not prepare for the loss of jobs in textile and furniture that anyone with a brain could see coming. Alot of folks are working in the surrounding areas. I think you will see that increase. We have large amounts of land, that is our gold mine along with our location. The other major cities close to use do not really have much available land, so if the economy picks up and someone is looking for a large parcel we will be in line. Also, I hate to mention this, but it is also a person's responsibility to make themselves more employable by retraining for another field etc. I wish all luck who are out of work, I could be next. Lexington, NC

Moving to winston salem

Hi Rosa, First, the Triad area of NC is a great place with lots to see and do. Could I recommend a smaller town close to Winston. Lexington is about 25 minutes, an easy commute. A very pretty town of 25,000. Homes are alot more affordable. Historic Districts and a good mix of condos and houses. You can buy a great condo in the low 100K. Great homes can be bought 80k and up.
