Gunman opens fire in Tennessee Unitarian Universalist church, ...

This is a terrible thing. My heart and prayers go out to the congregation, especially the children who witnessed such violence.  (Sunday Jul 27 | post #11)

Hellar For Council Yes Or No?

Thank you, Hindsight, for posting this. I have heard for many months what this young mans character truly is, and I should have posted an apology much sooner. I neglected to do so, and again I apologize deeply for my neglect in attempting to make right what I did wrong.  (Friday Jul 25 | post #213)

Hellar For Council Yes Or No?

I was one who was gullible enough to believe what was said online. Bobby, I am sorry and now I understand that you really do have a heart for the city and are an honest man. I didn't know anyone who knew you well before; I understand your family is honest and stellar in this community. Please forgive me for what I said about you earlier. I truly am sorry and ashamed for what I said, and I do hope the best for you, and pray that any damage I have caused you will be healed by the Lord, and that people will truly see you as you are--a good, kind, caring soul. I do truly hope the evil you received from this forum is reversed and you are seen as who you truly are. Lord have mercy on us and forgive us, and let this young man be healed. I must also apologize to the people of Ecorse who read this forum at that time and who may have believed what I had repeated from others. I am sorry I mislead you, if you put any stock into what I had to say about Bob Hellar Jr. I didn't know, and had trusted the judgement of certain people. I am sorry, and please know I am not going to do this again, not unless I know for a fact with my own 2 eyeballs and ears; I will not succumb to gossip from others and spread lies as I have unknowingly in the past; I didn't know any better, and truly thought I was being fed what was true. People claimed to be telling the truth, and it has turned out to be alot of slanderous lies. I only wanted the best for Ecorse, and instead I helped to harm a good young man whose only concern on council was to help the people of Ecorse and see her prosper. This is my desire as well, to see Ecorse as a thriving community. Also I need to apologize to the family of Bob Hellar Jr., and friends and acquaintances. I am quite ashamed of myself, I did not know any better at the time. I believed what was not true and tried very hard to keep the wrong-doers out of office; and it turns out that some were not wrong-doers at all, such as Bob Hellar Jr. I am not excusing myself from my action; but I do have a reason for it, perhaps not a very good one, but a reason just the same. Had I known differently, I would have vehemently come to the defense of Mr. Hellar Jr., our former councilman. Like many, I only want to see the truth come out for the betterment of our community, and again I am so very sorry that I mislead anyone, even unknowingly as I did.  (Friday Jul 25 | post #212)

Why must everyone be so nitpicky on this glorious day of our nations history? This is the day we celebrate our win of freedom from oppressive government; a great government, based on freedom for the people, was beginning to unfold. We are blessed to be in America and to call ourselves Americans, United States citizens. There is a greater battle to be fought against oppression in our town and surrounding areas from those who do not want us to be free; (drug dealers/users, thieves, bad business practices that every town is facing) but today, let us celebrate our freedom, and as we watch the display of fireworks, keep in our hearts and remember all who have ever fought to serve our country. Many have sacrificed for our freedom; why waste our free speech on hurting one another and picking each other apart over such nonsense. Let us count our blessings this wonderful day and pray for peace and freedom everywhere. Let peace and freedom reign in our hearts toward our fellow man. We are brothers and sisters here, related by our Mother Land, drawn together by the Red, White and Blue that travels through our hearts. Peace be upon all this day and all days, and may freedom reign in us and guide us, that we may bring freedom to others who are oppressed in every way.  (Jul 4, 2008 | post #59)

Ecorse -- REMEMBER WHEN ....

Remember Bozo the Clown? Larry Harmon, longtime Bozo the Clown, dies at 83 By JOHN ROGERS, Associated Press Writer Larry Harmon, who turned the character Bozo the Clown into a show business staple that delighted children for more than a half-century, died Thursday of congestive heart failure. He was 83. His publicist, Jerry Digney, told The Associated Press he died at his home. Although not the original Bozo, Harmon portrayed the popular clown in countless appearances and, as an entrepreneur, he licensed the character to others, particularly dozens of television stations around the country. The stations in turn hired actors to be their local Bozos. "You might say, in a way, I was cloning BTC (Bozo the Clown) before anybody else out there got around to cloning DNA," Harmon told the AP in a 1996 interview. "Bozo is a combination of the wonderful wisdom of the adult and the childlike ways in all of us," Harmon said. Pinto Colvig, who also provided the voice for Walt Disney's Goofy, was the first Bozo the Clown, a character created by writer-producer Alan W. Livingston for a series of children's records in 1946. Livingston said he came up with the name Bozo after polling several people at Capitol Records. Harmon would later meet his alter ego while answering a casting call to make personal appearances as a clown to promote the records. He got that job and eventually bought the rights to Bozo. Along the way, he embellished Bozo's distinctive look: the orange-tufted hair, the bulbous nose, the outlandish red, white and blue costume. "I felt if I could plant my size 83AAA shoes on this planet, (people) would never be able to forget those footprints," he said. Susan Harmon, his wife of 29 years, indicated Harmon was the perfect fit for Bozo.  (Jul 3, 2008 | post #1910)

Pretty strong statement you made against the police blu, that they don't know what they are doing. wow............ I for one have great confidence in the officers and the festival committee to be sure residents and visitors will be safe from harm and can enjoy themselves during the festival. They've worked pretty hard on this for many months and have all the bases covered. Many activities have been planned, we have free bands, rides and games for the kiddies and young at heart, etc. Many fun things to do. Hope to see everyone there.  (Jul 2, 2008 | post #33)

We will have more security than last year. Remember, last year the police force was cut almost in 1/2 and we had a bunch of rookies. (no offense to the rookies, it's just that you probably didn't know who was trouble and who wasn't because you weren't around long enough to know the difference) The fire department is going to be there too, and they weren't last year. Uniforms make all the difference, the more the better. We also have more police officers on staff now, so there will be adequate coverage. Last year the county didn't patrol; this year the county will patrol. Last year we didn't have the assistance of neighboring officers, this year we do. Unfortunate that one instance in so long a time has tarnished the reputation of the Ecorse festivities.  (Jun 29, 2008 | post #10)

Wage savings pocketed by the boss -- American Axel CEO gets 215...

This is protocol for big business and government alike. Every time there are layoffs and/or closings, the big wigs get a good chunk of change. They are rewarded for slashing payroll.  (Jun 29, 2008 | post #2)
