March to protest immigration raids
there was a story on WLOS this morning about unemployed folks going to the health department more now, at tax payer expence. The woman interviewed had worked for progressive for several years and been let off. If we are cleaning out the illegals, why are the unemployed going after their jobs. Are they "above" those sorts of jobs? If free handouts were not available, would they not take any work they could find? Before you label me a hypocrit, note that even though I have a biology degree and have taught college level physics, I make a living cutting grass, and doing other home maintenance. Partly because that is what I enjoy, and partly because it is what was available when I needed work and I have made the best of it. (Friday | post #41)

Economic troubles hit city government
Just wait until some person who cannot afford gas is riding down Kimberly on their bike and swerves out into traffic to miss one of those stupid bump outs, and gets killed by a car traveling legally and carefully. If their family doesn't sue the idiots behind such a mess, they will be missing a good opportunity. Shortage leads to impurity in gas
A little alcohol in the gas will combine with the water in your tank (if you have just a little water there) and mix with the gas to burn it off harmlessly. That is what "Gas Dry" does. The problem often only requires the fuel filter to be replaced if it gets too much water in it, because it will then stop the flow. Many cars don't need the tank removed, just let a bit of gas flow into a container until it is clear again. I fixed several people's cars who had gotten "bad gas" this recent go round, and I just put the gas in my old chevy truck and it sputtered a bit, but never failed. If you can't afford to leave a tip, don't leave home
I'll stick with my method, which is simpler and rewards good service appropriately, no matter what the menu costs are. I keep track of the time the waitress spends serving us, keeping drinks filled, etc. and multiply that times a $/hour figure based on the quality of the service. This avoids the poor tip to a worker in a lower price establishment, and often lowers the percentage in overpirced places, whose prices have nothing to do with the quality of the service. A buffet dinner where the waitress only brings the drinks should not expect a tip like one where several courses are served. We tend to go more often to a few places locally and this method seems to satisfy the regular waitresses there because we get consistantly good service. (Saturday Oct 4 | post #116)

with no other info about the sampling method or sample size and how it was chosen the polls quoted are meaningless (as usual). Folksy is a lot more genuine than the usual posturing of the false leaders in far too many places. Not all of us are dumb, and it certainly is refreshing to hear some straight talk. all the news analysts hate plain talk, because it is harder for them to spin and manipulate.
