Little Dorrit Nominated 'Most Emmy's Ever' for Masterpiece

That is true. Though I do feel Derek should have been given a bit of a chance. Was it Dustin Hoffman who won the Best Actor Oscar in 1988? Derek did win a Best Actor award for AC from the Evening Standard Awards. And yes, Arthur got the girl. That has made it pleasurable writing the Little Dorrit sequel, though I just wonder what people will think of it from reading or (hopefully) watching the film  (Sep 23, 2009 | post #82)

Little Dorrit Nominated 'Most Emmy's Ever' for Masterpiece

As to being snubbed, it's happened before. Derek Jacobi got ignored with the same role in the 1988 Oscar nominations (when the only person recognized was Alec Guinness) even when the poor thing "acted his heart out". Real acting seems to be the problem. And, then, there is still some people who consider Arthur Clennam a boring, lifeless character... GRRRR!!!!  (Sep 21, 2009 | post #65)

Whatever comes out at the Emmys, I can at least assure you of something: Matthew is part of Dickensian film history of being one of only six men to play the part of Arthur Clennam on film.  (Sep 19, 2009 | post #21)

Little Dorrit

little dorrit plot

If you had not noticed the Victoria Park Mystery series on this forum, I added a new twist to the story. It proves that if you want to rewrite the parentage of a child, make sure ALL of their relatives are dead- and none left alive to tell the story to the child later grown into a man.  (Sep 18, 2009 | post #51)
