anyone know how to get a permit for cutting firewood in the national forest??
May be some one on the forum who is more knowledgeable abt. it than me, but I think you have to contact the local office of the National Forest Service. (Sunday Dec 13 | post #2)
attention to the church going people of oregon county
You said they wouldn't call you much of a Christian if you were on this site - well, Jesus sat with sinners, he ate and drank with them, they called him bad names - didn't faze him a bit. We are not called to witness to the believers, we are called to be a witness to the lost. (Nov 29, 2009 | post #19)

Thank you for your comment. It is quite refresing to see that there are still people with some common decency in them, and empathy for other people's feelings. (Nov 29, 2009 | post #11)

Actually you are quite wrong. I do not enjoy reading filth, it shames them and it shames their creator. After viewing the initial posting and seeing filth I quite reading them. It's pretty obvious when someone is requesting a recipe or posting a community event that that is what the posting is abt., as oppose to seeing just an individuals name, (that's a dead give away that the subject/posting is going to be full of foul language and slander [people can be pretty predictable at times]). Thank you so much for your input. There are rules, they are not being adhered to and enforced. Part of the fault lies with the people breaking the rules and part of the problem is the moderator is not calling people to account for breaking the rules. (Nov 29, 2009 | post #9)
Anyone have a good pumpkin pie recipe from scratch?
We're celebrating our Thanksgiving today (my children have to work this weekend) so am really busy today, but I certainly do want to check out your pumpkin pie recipe not using sugar. Sounds very interesting. You use Stevia instead? (Nov 25, 2009 | post #21)
I think we'll have a wet winter. Been seeing a lot of black wooly worms to. We need snow, it's got nitrogen in it that nourishes gardens and crops. Ain't nothin prettier than a quiet gently falling snow. You can almost hear it falling thru the trees, kinda sounds like angles wings gently brushing thru the trees and glorifying God. Check the Alton advertiser, go by the Country Living Real Estate office across from Brad's bike shop and see if they have anything for rent. If you can try and avoid Don Ross's office. Check with the Real Estate offices in Thayer, sometimes they have rental property in and around Alton. Pray that you find what you are looking for. (Nov 19, 2009 | post #3)
Anyone have a good pumpkin pie recipe from scratch?
I hadn't heard abt. the shortage but I sure am glad you shared. We grew our own pumpkins (those little sugar baby pumpkins) this year (I was giving pumpkins away right and left), and then I canned my own pumpkin. So I don't have to wory abt. buying any this year and I saved a mess of seeds. (Nov 19, 2009 | post #18)
You can go to the health department and sigh up to pick a name off of the mitten tree. Not for sure but I think you can call the sheriff's office they have "shop with a cop", that's where a child goes with a police officer, usually to Wal-Mart and they get to pick out Christmas gifts for themselves or a family member. I think the Sheriff's office takes donations for that, give them a call. I also think that you can call one of the local pastors and see if they need Christmas donations for the Alton Ministorial Alliance, I think they give gift/?food boxes at Christmas time.
