WE MUST START PROFILING MUSLIMS AT AIRPORTS
Hindsight is awesome. Those poor people were stunned. Nobody thought something that horrific could happen that is why nobody fought back until flight 93 started hearing from people what was happening in NY. Personally, I would hope I would have the courage to throw every single thing in my purse at their heads, keys, full baby bottles, used diapers...everything. (9 hrs ago | post #715)

He was making some very broad and general statements and saying that it is true of all Muslims which it isn't. That is not simplistic or naive on his part. It's just simply untrue. He is either very afraid or trying to manipulate people that are very afraid. This is how bigotry spreads, through ignorance. I was trying to help which I guess you are right, is naive. Can you please quote what part of the Koran says this? Muslims have been living in mixed communities for more than 2000 years. (9 hrs ago | post #709)

I disagree. Blond and blue eyed anglo white boys are being recruited as we speak. They have to get around the profiling. (9 hrs ago | post #702)

I think you should go actually speak to some of the Muslim faith. You have some serious misunderstandings about their religion. It might help. (10 hrs ago | post #680)

Glenn Beck Named "Misinformer Of The Year"
I'm not the President of the United States. I have all the time in the world to argue with these people. :) (10 hrs ago | post #1072)
Glenn Beck Named "Misinformer Of The Year"
BECK. The White House has better things to do. Be honest, if Obama got into a shouting match with Glen Beck people would be screaming that he isn't doing his job. I know I would. Beck isn't worth the fight. (13 hrs ago | post #1052)
Glenn Beck Named "Misinformer Of The Year"
What question? He was trying to distract from the topic. Funny thing is that had I said something about Bush he would have had kittens and told me to stay on topic. FYI...nobody that knows me would call me a liberal. (13 hrs ago | post #1051)
Two Cents: 21st century McCarthyism
A few bad apples doesn't make the entire organization bad. What I know about ACORN: The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) is a community-based organization in the USA that advocates for low- and moderate-income families by working on neighborhood safety, voter registration, health care, affordable housing, and other social issues. ACORN's priorities have included: better housing and wages for the poor, more community development investment from banks and governments, better public schools, and other social justice issues.[3] ACORN pursues these goals through demonstration, negotiation, lobbying for legislation, and voter participation.[3] ACORN is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization that typically champions liberal and progressive causes. It is made up of numerous legally distinct parts including local non-profits, a national lobbying organization, and the ACORN Housing Corporation. Predatory lending and affordable housing ACORN investigates complaints against companies accused of predatory lending practices. ACORN also works to support strict state laws against predatory practices, organizes against foreclosure rescue scams, and steers borrowers toward loan counseling;[6] Following a three-year campaign, Household International (now owned by HSBC Holdings and renamed HSBC Finance Corporation), one of the largest subprime lenders in the country, and ACORN announced on November 25, 2003 a proposed settlement of a 2002 national class-action lawsuit brought by ACORN. The settlement created a $72 million foreclosure avoidance program to provide relief to household borrowers who are at risk of losing their homes.[6] The settlement came on the heels of an earlier $484 million settlement between Household, Attorneys General, and bank regulators from all 50 US states.[7] ACORN and its affiliates advocate for affordable housing by urging the development, rehabilitation and establishment of housing trust funds at the local, state, and federal levels.[8] The group also pushes for enforcement of affordable-housing requirements for developers and promotes programs to help homeowners repair their homes and organize tenant demands.[8] An ACORN official voiced support for a proposal Hillary Clinton made during the presidential primary election to create a federal fund for distressed homeowners.[9] I cut and pasted this from poster Dances With Weebles but I checked it out. This was meant to be good thing. Now because of a few bad apples and the hysterical extreme right wing media, the good that this organization can do will be harmed irreparably. THAT is criminal. I agree. The problem with these countries is that they all had something that the Americans in power wanted...oil (money) and they (career politicians) were in a position to do something about it regardless of the consequences to our nation as a whole. Americans can be the kindest, most generous people on the planet. We are usually first on the scene of any major disaster or need out there. And we can also be arrogant and stubborn sons of bitches. When will we get over the habit of thinking we know what is best for the rest of the world? (Tuesday | post #479)
GOP changes tune on costly health plans
GOP (and Democrats) breathe hypocrisy. They only care about what will gain them more power, more money and more influence. Americans just get in the way. We need viable third party candidates. The two major parties are too big and too corrupt. (Tuesday | post #6)
