Teachers should strive to reach an agreement - Hawaii Editorials

Cut the DOE budget in other things. This whole game plan by the DOE to make it hurt where the most people would be affected is working for them. They have not cutout the bloated administration or reduced in size the department.  (Sunday Nov 29 | post #32)

Hawaiians rally to save ceded lands - Hawaii News

Nothing you do can be considered reporting. Are you including yourself in the "we" again? We (excluding you) want to know the truth about the supposed eurasian "honors" student at the UH. What we see based on your posts ia a racist, clueless, un-insightful, narrow minded person who posts for quantity and not quality. This person seems to enjoy posting one line comments and then as if to add support or justification for their existance, replies and answers his/her/its own post. In fact on an active thread "City signs $483M rail contract" this person that claims that his/her/its "reporting " is desired has 9 out 10 post in the thread all saying the same thing. That is not reporting or giving insight by any standard or the true work of an "honors" student.  (Monday Nov 23 | post #55)

Summer rebound possible - Hawaii Business

From the thread about MADDQUOTE who="alice "]<quoted text>true..they don't care about human life and look so stupid crashing their cars into walls.[/QUOTE] An "honors" student would not then suddenly post these bits for an "honors" student who has just learned racism would not stoop so low as to project racism. A person that as no racism would not at to this place being "unhappy " with comments like this. Go back to ND with your pre-established racism and your bag of lies. You have called me mean every time I have posted examples of your ineptitude and carpetbagging, yet your post still get judged clueless, nuts and spam. When you go back to ND, consider staying their since I certainly would not want to waste a scholarship on you to promote racism and hatred.  (Sunday Nov 22 | post #12)

Senate ready for special session - Hawaii News

Lets get to the real issue of the problem. When lingle was pushing furloughs, she had also wanted the DOE to reduce the budget by an equivelent amount. The DOE did not do this. They went for something that would cause the most uproar possible by using the children as the pawns in the middle of the battle for more money. Hard decisions have to be made in reducing the size of the department, but instead Pat Hamamoto and her cronies put the task of layoff's onto the governor. The DOE and HSTA wanted to be able to keep their pot of money the same instead of reducing the budget by the equivalent amount. To reduce the DOE budget you would have to effectively reduce the size of the department, cutout low used services and effectively trim the fat. This means reduction of pay, laying off people, taking less trips and making better use of the taxpayer dollars and essentially an overhaul of the department. They have not done this yet, and because things weren't going their way, they put the children as the pawns in the mix to draw more money to the ineffective department. The DOE/BOE used every tactic possible to draw attention away from reducing the size of the department such as threatening sports, implementing furlough fridays, threatening reduced and free-lunch programs, raising school bus fees and even affecting library times. This mentality is now the mentality going into a special session so that we expect our do nothing legislature to raise taxes without even forcing an audit of the DOE while the DOE continues it reign of ineptitude, floundering and ineffectiveness. Dear Legislators, before raising taxes so that six percent of the population can maintain the status quo, call for an audit for the departments. Prove to us that your pay raise was worth it. Push to have the DOE prove how our tax dollars are being spent towards the children. Force the DOE to reduce in size at the administration levels and not the teacher levels. For every one of you politicians that got elected under the guise of improving education, force the issue to make our tax dollars reach the classrooms instead of being wasted on beauracracy and administration. BOE, Please prove to us why you got elected and state making a difference, especially you, Breene Harimoto for taking that trip to Disney last year. Prove your worth or you will be amongst those looking for other jobs.  (Friday Nov 20 | post #14)

Senator guided furlough accord - Hawaii News

.5 % increase in GET amounts to about 2% increase in cost of living. Again taking the easy way out instead of reducing the size of the ineffective DOE. You can only throw so much money at the DOE before you realize that we have been spending money on people to spin their wheels with no effective outcome.  (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #13)

Lingle shows leadership by reversing direction - Hawaii Editorials

What we really need is leadership in the DOE andd BOE. They have to make the hard decisions on cutting the size of the departments, not just causing the legislature to raise taxes. Cut out part of the beauracracy. We have so much "administrati on" turning the cogs of the department that it is all counterproductive to each other. Results show Hawaii is among the bottom 10% of the states and has not improved. Time to remove the useless and counterproductive cogs in the system.  (Wednesday Nov 18 | post #9)

'Rain' fund raid right choice - Hawaii Editorials

Break down the beauracracy. Cut out a layer of "supervision " . Either Cut out Complexes or cut out Districts. Any teacher not directly in contact with students, any resource person hiding away in an office should be cut from the budget. DOE can afford to trim the fat. How helpful was that trip to Disney last year. Audit every department to cut more from the budgets. restoring furlough days meabns to cut elswhere, not just throwing money at the problem.  (Tuesday Nov 17 | post #7)
