Farmer forced to sacrifice hogs to floodwaters

You don't make any sense. Farmer's horrible people? They put the food on your table. They don't deserve any of this.  (Jun 18, 2008 | post #72)

Tenant, property manager split hairs over a stinking rat

Leave it to a 19 year old not to know what to do, and her parents to coddle her. Why didn't dear old dad come and pick up the thing for her? However, landlord does need to do something about all the other rats the city did find evidence of and get rid of what's bringing them in.  (Jun 18, 2008 | post #9)

Pace: Military personnel can soon ride buses for free

A lot of senior citizens are on fixed incomes and are barely making ends meet. This will help them just a little bit. And don't worry about the military. Not too many will be able to take advantage of the free rides. Note they have to be in full uniform to use the free ride? Well the military forbids all active duty military (except the students up at Great Lakes) to be out and about in their full military uniforms. The only branch you ever see travelling in full uniform is the Army, because they're the only ones allowed. Marines, Navy & AirForce have to travel in civilian clothing. So no free rides for them. They'll never be able to take advantage of this. It's a total joke.  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #3)

Neighbors seeing red over man's firetruck

Like my dad who has an irrational fear of someone breaking into his house. This man has an irrational fear of his neighborhood burning down. It's not just a fear of his house burning. Let him have his fire-truck to feel safe and leave him alone.  (May 22, 2008 | post #27)

Old hurts, new lives emerge two decades after Dann shootings

Dude - Did you not read the entire article?? She killed herself in Andrew's bathroom in 1988. My sympathies for all who are eduring this horror directly in their lives.  (May 20, 2008 | post #14)

He doesn't get to decide nicknames for other people

I agree with Miss Manners on LW1. However, she should have gone farther to explain that proper manners is to always call someone by the name they are introduced to you; in general that's the name they prefer. They will usually tell you their preferred nickname as they get to know you better.  (May 1, 2008 | post #3)

'Cougar' sighting in Stickney puts neighbors on alert

Last time attacks by cougars were recorded in the entire USA was 2006 and there were only 2. There have already been more pet dog attacks than that this year alone. Just leave the animal alone and it will go on its way.  (Apr 24, 2008 | post #33)

Readers sound off about what's really wrong with the world

It all comes down to taking responsibility for your own actions. Behaving in a considerate manner toward others.  (Feb 5, 2008 | post #2)

Friend finds capitalist drive unbecoming

Sometimes the degree you earned will not make you the money you need to survive. However, the fact that I have a degree in general has given me a chance to move up in life and be able to make enough money to survive and support my family. I'll never work in my chosen field unfortunately, but at least because I have that degree I'll always make more money than my husband who doesn't have that degree and I can choose to do what ever I want to do. He has limited choices.  (Sep 28, 2007 | post #5)
