GOP faults Obama's grandma visit - Hawaii News

Who can verify this claim? Were campaign funds used for this trip and is it lawful for him to use this monies for this cause? I do applaud him for doing it though. It was worth the trip and it showed more integrity and heart than the bottom line. Grandma Dunham was no dummy either and voted early. I'm sure she already knows in her heart that her grandson did well. The Republicans show their colors that they would shoot a man when he is down. It is a bittersweet day for Obama and the Republican party should be ashamed of themselves for not being sensitive to this issue. I hope everyone votes for the best man today. Peace.  (Tuesday Nov 4 | post #65)

Rail to alter landscape - Hawaii News

This has been the worst projects to have come from our city government. Mayor Mufi how can you do this to us? A 400 page document to come out 2 days before the election on one of the most significant and costliest public projects in our history? There are no guarantees all the residents will even ride this thing. That would be the one and only question worth even proposing it in the first place. Will ridership and the cost be worth it? Where is the 2nd city of Kapolei that makes it worth the west side residents not having to make the journey to town? If you had built that up to sustain jobs and provided a short trans system from Makaha to Kapolei, that would decrease a lot of the traffic incoming towards Honolulu. This is the costliest mistake this admin has ever made, and i still haven't forgotten the Ala Wai sewage fiasco. This city needs to have another mayor now!!!! If it be Ann K. so be it! I don't want to pay for this rail. The ballot doesn't even give us this choice, it only asks if they should be given the powers to have a steel on steel rail. How about NO RAIL!! Steel lasts but there is no question indicating any other choice to mark. This campaign is such a juice job. Out with rail & Mufi!Homelessness will rise and small businesses will suffer, as well as our island beauty compromised. This is not smart or beneficial as far as i see. Just my opinion, no haters need reply!!  (Monday Nov 3 | post #13)

Kamehameha Schools' critics told to give IDs - Hawaii News

Good! Why are they trying to hide! They are not hiding the fact that they want to milk money from Kamehameha Schools and Bishop Estate for huge sums of money meant to further education for our kids. Hawaiian preference should not be a crime nor ignored in the Princesses will. There are lots of greedy people out there who will look for a money maker. Sorry, no here. not now, not ever.  (Wednesday Oct 29 | post #3)

Big Isle girl, 11, returns $1,000 - News

That was odd for her to pick up a richard simmons tape then proceed to find that kind of money then turn it in. Well, it will help some kids this holiday season. I guess it was meant to be. It probably belonged to someone that didn't mean for it to be discovered and who didn't deserve it. Just my opinion. Good job Mikela, good things will come around to you.  (Wednesday Oct 29 | post #9)

Fines piled up for site of scaffold cave-in - News

Even though his intentions were good, it was illegal and it's by the grace of God no one was hurt in the collapse. Property owners should be more responsible for what happens on their property, they had to know whats going on. They collected rent. The IRS should check their books, and fine them appropriately. These scumlords should have their property auctioned to deserving families that truly need a home. Now where will these people go? We have too many homeless families already and we have not seen the last of this.  (Wednesday Oct 29 | post #41)

Roof cave-in drives out dozens - News

Daniel should be jailed for illegal tenants. Their money should be refunded back to them because he is not operating a safe housing structure and he should be fined for going against safety codes. Many lives may have been hurt by his carelessness.  (Monday Oct 27 | post #19)

Isle tourism chief resigns - News

I'm glad he resigned, it's about time, it's not a petty political witch hunt but it is about public service and accountability. He actually should have been fired so this would not have to be done once again and wasting everybody's time. So glad it's finally done. I'm sure we can find someone capable here in Hawaii to continue the work that he set in motion.  (Oct 9, 2008 | post #30)

Hawaiian group claims that court lacks jurisdiction - News

Nobody in their right mind would represent this group. They have no money, nothing to stand on, they think they will win this way. Judge Chan has done well in having them seek counsel, he will hold them in contempt if they neglect to come back to court without proper legal counsel. Being that they refuse to abide by the court of law, they should be stripped of all "this governments" benefits. Take their home, U.S. currency, any benefits from the government, social security, insurance and let them eat poi! They dont have a case. You illegally break in, you busted, you burn!  (Oct 3, 2008 | post #16)

Rare Hawaiian owl is spotted in palace area - News

I've also seen green birds with orange beaks and long tails that look like the parrot family flying in the tall coconut trees. I notice them because they have a loud whistle that sounds different from the other birds. Anyone know what they are?  (Oct 2, 2008 | post #11)

Free-speech rights support sign-wavers - News

The sign wavers do slow down traffic and stand ridiculously close to the road at major intersections and one day going towards Kailua they started on the shoulder from Auloa St. At Castle Hospital where they catch all the drivers turning towards Waimanalo. They park their cars on the grass and stand on both sides all along that right hand turn, on the corner and down the road by the park. There must have been about 15-20 people on that corner. I really believe it is a distraction, it backed up traffic and we really don't need those signs waving in our faces. I sometimes wish i had an airhorn!  (Oct 1, 2008 | post #6)

Wife says spat, not man, led to crash - News

I don't believe this lady, i think she is trying to cover up what happened. Why does she want to protect him. It's her fault too for drinking and driving. Driving in a rage is not smart either and they could have hurt or killed other people on the road.  (Oct 1, 2008 | post #29)

Give HTA more control or say goodbye to tourists - Editorials

Really i don't know what they do that the travel agencies don't already do. I personally don't think the high end stores have anything to do with why people visit Waikiki. It looks more like rodeo drive. Greed has taken over. Nothing makes Waikiki stand out anymore. It doesn't have a unique style and only the beach draws the people more than anything else. I think about when i see Venice beach, California, no other beachfront is quite like it, the character is different from most other places. Coney Island wouldn't have been the same without the amusement park which is now closed down. Hopefully we can find a way to stay in visitor's minds and survive in todays economic state.  (Sep 30, 2008 | post #7)

Heartbreak in court - Hawaii News

The punishment should be without parole. That man is a coward. I know he will face his own demons in prison. What goes around, comes around. Women, don't run in fear anymore, get help please!  (Sep 30, 2008 | post #30)
